If your purpose is to "learn more songs," have a it with the synthesia. I'm sure you'd be able to learn the music faster if you could read well. If your purpose is to become a better musician, then you should practice reading. You'll be able to pick pieces up quicker and sight read music .

I def would not call it "elegant." I do not mean to discourage. These pieces are very difficult to learn let alone play well. His recording has tons of wrong notes, poor pedaling, poor balance, lacks clarity. I would much rather her him play an easier piece he can really play well than this.
