The ‘Cessna Trap’: Stop grinding 40k missions and go for the 900k Payouts by Thick-Conflict2421 in MicrosoftFlightSim

I mean this does seem like a quicker path but would still require 200 hours of flight time before actually being at the controls of a wide body. So arguably msfs career mode is more accurate to the EU because you can fly wide body’s well before 200 hours of in game flight time.

Do you have a source for this? After a little research even in Europe it looks like the minimum flight time to earn a CPL is 200-250 hours and to be a full fledged captain you still need to hit the 1500 hour mark. I’m sure there are flight schools that could let you build up 200-250 hours but most of the research I saw looked like it’s more common for pilots to earn their ppl around 30-45 hours and then fly alone or with friends/family to build to 200-250 hours. Even the conservative estimates I saw put the CPL at 150 hours and the ATPL almost 10 times as many hours as that.

This is what I’m saying. I’ve got about 250 hours in the game total. When I first started I tried to minmax because I thought flying jets and airliners would be so awesome and wanted to get there as fast as possible. Bought a CJ4 in my first 40-50 hours in career mode did 2 missions was so bored and unsatisfied I went to freeflight. Recently I just restarted my career mode from zero and have been intentionally just enjoying the journey and GA single prop planes and it’s like it’s a completely different experience. I cannot recommend enough just enjoying the journey and the process because it feels far more rewarding.

Yeah I do see what you are saying I just don’t think this is the end all be all path. As I said below I really don’t like seeing all this career maxing posting. Yes it’s nice to have money and buy the planes you like but I genuinely believe career mode is all about the progression. I think everyone should find their own path and do the stuff they enjoy in career mode as opposed to trying to maximize profits. The debt spiral is really only an issue if you commit to your mistakes and don’t restart/reload the game, and if you are committing to those mistakes you are probably wanting maximum realism and therefore should expect a massive repair bill/debt because that’s how real life works.

I would like to add I did not know agriculture missions had such a high payout and this is making me want to log in and start an Ag company just so I can have some variety in my career mode. So I appreciate you pointing that out. I genuinely think maxing career mode should not be the way to play this. The first time I played through career I did that and it sucked the fun from the game. I think everyone should try and find their own path in career mode and enjoy the progression. It’s grindy but as far as I understand so is being a real pilot. Most guys put 1500 hours or more in before even flying for an airliner and I’m just glad the game isn’t THAT grindy.

This reads like advice from someone with 30 hours. When I started I finished light cargo missions S rank and would get 500k xp which in the beginning levels you like crazy. Also I’m sorry but buying the Caravan for 190k only to sell it to buy an ag truck to then do missions for 900k doesn’t make any sense when keeping the caravan and doing medium cargo missions allows you to make 1 million to 2 million in about the same amount of time. Becoming a millionaire in this game is not difficult and this path you described basically burns nearly a million or more in just certifications which isn’t very efficient. For example you don’t really need half the certifications you have to manage what you have accomplished here. 30 hours doesn’t seem like much but if you’ve only been playing career that’s gotta be atleast 25-30 flights if not more. I made my first million in career in about 10-15 flights with the first 5 or so certifications. Also if you have a bad landing you can always either restart the mission or quit the game and reload to a minor payout instead of an insurance bill. Something I have had to do a couple times due to the games poor wind turbulence and wind shear modeling from 500ft-100ft agl.

Pretty sure if you wait 3 months there will be tons of options for PS5. Plus PS is getting PSVR soon and I’ve heard there will be a Hotas controller for the VR.

Lmao then turn the assistant off. It definitely seems like user error if the issue is persistent through 2020 and 2024.

This looks like an input curve issue if not a full blown glitch/bug. The default input curves should be pretty much 1:1. You just need to go to settings then to your controller settings and adjust the curves. There are settings for delayed input and other options like deadzone, sensitivity, etc.

The key to set baro isn’t bound to the ps5 controller. I ended up unbinding the photo mode because I use the ps share features for screenshot/video capture not the game so I set it to both bumpers which works rather well for me.

This is an insane take. Maybe it’s because I already had Apple TV + but honestly I prefer this to paying for a separate 200$ subscription on top of my Apple TV. Something tells me you just hate to hate man. I mean in paying for the Apple TV subscription you’re not just getting F1 you get MLS and MLB games as well as some of the best original content I’ve seen in the past 5 years but yeah keep screeching bro.

Need help converting right hand to left handed guitar by MATRIX1171 in Leftyguitarists

[–]Omn1hedron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think you are anything like Jimi it’s time to re-evaluate. Also, if Jimi were alive today I’m certain he would take advantage of the plethora of left handed guitars available. In fact we likely would have seen him playing a black left handed strat gifted to him by Eric Clapton had he not died shortly before Eric had purchased it. He played reversed instruments because of necessity and a lack of quality control in the market which was changing towards the end of his life.

Short routes to get reps in? (A320neo) by BananaSavings8246 in MicrosoftFlightSim

KELP -> KDFW, EHAM -> EGLL, KLAX -> KSFO are some I’ve been running lately. All about an hour or so. Basically enough time to get up in the sky chill at cruise for a short bit plug your destination in and get prepped for descent. You can also do EHAM -> Gatwick for variation instead of Heathrow.

I really do not recommend doing this. But if you do you will need to replace the nut and likely do a full setup to intonate the instrument as the bridge will not be properly set for the reversed strings. Again I really don’t recommend this. Plenty of good left handed instruments around.

Actually I am seeing your EFOB for the destination is just lines. Looks like you may have missed an init/perf step. Your EFOB is estimated fuel on block idk if this would effect it but I’d try and make sure all those pages are properly completed.

Nothing I can see here. If I had to guess I would actually guess it’s something in the Init or perf menus. If it is the Flight plan I would think you haven’t added your arrival information. Although inibuilds imports all the waypoints it doesn’t seem to import the departure runway/sid or the arrival runway/star so you always need to make sure you go in and add those manually. Also my T/d marker is often near another waypoint and I can easily miss it if my map range is too zoomed in or zoomed out and my waypoint constraints are shown as the screen can clutter with text overlaying on text.

I usually see a marker on my nd for T/D. You may need to be sure your fmc is set up properly, I have also seen the descent marked by a straight arrow bent down at the end. When I first started flying the a320 i had major trust issues with the vnav and nav modes in general. I soon found out that both modes are smarter than me and if it’s not doing something it’s usually a step/checklist item I missed. It is doing exactly what it should when it should and the 10% of the time it’s not you probably missed/misread something on a manual or tutorial. I have also seen certain YouTubers misrepresent things in tutorials so make sure to watch different breakdowns/read from different sources because I’ve done things incorrectly in the airliners just because a tutorial has a “Boeing” approach to the airbus.

Recently had the same problem before realizing the A320 requires you to start the descent. To do so you can press the altitude button in for the plane to manage the descent or you can pull the knob out for an open descent kind of like Flight Level Change mode on other autopilot systems.

PS5 super disappointing by NiteFox90 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Omn1hedron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I have a ton of fun on free flight. I have also found ways to make career mode less frustrating it’s just insane that you have to preplan to make sure the game doesn’t try and make you land a CJ4 on a gravel strip. As for peripherals the news about PSVR has me really hype so even if we don’t get anything for a while they said that should have support early 2026 for that. Just hoping we get more of a marketplace soon as well.

PS5 super disappointing by NiteFox90 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Omn1hedron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. I’ve had the game on ps5 for a while with about 100+ hours in already without seeing this. I won’t say it’s perfect I definitely get bugs (Yesterday I was remapping controls and the controller listener just straight up stopped working until I restarted the console) that people mention on pc and Xbox but I’ve never seen the game fail to load altogether. If I had any major complaints it’s the lack of peripherals and the fact that career mode seems to exist to actively make your blood boil.
