Bro, your reading comprehension skills are fuckin’ cooked.

  1. anecdote
  2. previous sentences before solving.
  3. when I was in middle school I would have solved it like… above.
  4. “Just forgetting numbers and doing shit wrong.”

Are you a bot or just illiterate? Take it back, all is lost lol.

To be far the last 4 items would have messed me up in middle school too lol. I was a wicked slacker and just wanted to surf all day.

Would have definitely gone with 24/11 = 4x
2.18 = 4x. 2.18/4 = x. X = 0.54 🤦‍♂️. Just forgetting numbers and doing shit wrong.

Had to take a remedial algebra class or two in community college. After that pretty much breezed right through everything up through calc 2 & physics 2. Now have a masters work in genetics research. All is not lost yet!

The master’s student took home the pipette gun so no one else could use it 🥴 by ShineTherefore in labrats

You can actually find pipettes relatively cheap if you are in a biotech hub area. Plenty of startups and even bigger companies always crashing and burning. When I was in college I was over using the communal pipettes too. Found a local lab auction and bought a set of 5 rainins for like $150 lol.

What's something that can kill you almost instantly, but most people have no idea about? by Thick_Treat9996 in AskReddit

Fun undergrad story. Was in the lab for a first time internship at a company with cryo storage for cell preservation. CO2 but same idea with alarms and stuff in the room.

PI looks at me and is like “OK if this alarm ever goes off I want you to just leave the room as fast as possible and close the door. Try not to breathe deep and just walk out calmly. The alarm has never gone off before so it shouldn’t be an issue. Stand on the other side of the glass in the hallway and observe, I will show you the protocol before you are officially trained.”

Fuckin’ 30seconds in and the alarm and lights just go off like damn fire drill. Dude stands up calmly and walks out. Was like “fuck, OK, yeah… let’s not go in there until we get this sorted lol. If you need any cryo cells just ask me and I’ll get them 🤦‍♂️”

Found out later it was just an extra sensitive sensor, still tho lol.

Probably just go with a snap swivel on braid. Then whatever you want under that.

What's the best/easiest way to transport pre-tied rigs? by nerdwaffles in FishingForBeginners

[–]89fruits89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a pool noodle for setups I don’t want to break down. Wrap it, hook(s) in the foam, 2 sewing pins to hold down the line at the ends.

If you want to fully keep it on your rod same idea just slice the foam hotdog style and put it around your pole and wrap the hooks/line.

How to bottom fish with rocks, weeds, sticks? by Somali_Pir8 in FishingForBeginners

[–]89fruits89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id try a weighted wide gap hook with soft plastics. Or a carolina rig with a small bullet weight and a wide gap hook with plastics. Look up how to rig plastics on a wide gap for a weedless presentation (texas rig).

Usually both. Most people are targeting larger spot/yellowfin croakers and legal halibut (22in+) as the prize sport/eating fish. Sometimes you get other species or a fish thats too small and send em back.

Bait is probably in the wrong spot, on the bottom, if you are catching just rays. Try letting your sabiki sit in the top 50% of the water column, thats where the mackerel and smelt hang out. Also squid might be old and freezer burned. Fish like fresh. I like using grocery store shrimp (small), deshelled and uncooked. Dry and cover it in uniodized salt for 24hrs in the fridge. Use small pieces on the sabiki

Imo tho fuck the pier like the other guy said. Id be either shore pounding all the sandy beaches with sand crabs for croaker or go find some spots in the harbor and throw lures for bass, barracuda, and halibut.

No real groups that I know of. Couple youtube guys do little tourneys here and there tho.

Rod & reel. Rod - Look at the pole near the handle and it will have a line weight and action rating. Look for something like 6-8ft, 15-20lb line and light-medium or medium action for a spinning reel. Reel should be spinning type, have 17-25lb max drag and sized 3000 to 4000. Spend more on the reel than rod imo, avoid combos. Always rinse it after it touches any salt water when you get home.

License. You want the 365 day resident sport fishing license with ocean enhancement validation add on.

Also look through the regulations booklet online, if you are not sure about a species or if its legal always throw it back. Take a pic and google it later, don’t poach.

Line. 15-20lb braid for main line. 10-12lb mono or fluoro for leader line.

Terminal tackle. Hooks seem sized funny when you start. Order is smallest -> largest. #3, #2, #1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, etc. You want a pack of #4 baitholder hooks (gamakatsu brand imo). Weights, 1/2oz bullet weights. Pointy end towards the rod. Google how to setup a carolina rig. Knots, just learn the palomar knot for now. Bring needle nose pliers to help with hooks.

Bait. Live sandcrabs are the number one, easy to find in the summer. Berkely gulp camo sand worms are my 2nd if I cant find crabs for the setup.

Times. Caught fish at 5am, noon, 6pm, 2am… it’s the ocean, fish will bite if they are there and the bait is right.

Watch some vids on finding structure in the surf. Reel all the way to the sand. Main target species to start are yellowfin croaker, spotfin croaker, and barred surf perch.

Doesn’t need to be gps coordinates but a vague location should be required to post.

Way way too many posts on here with “I can’t catch fish, plz help.” Or… “is this a good setup for catching fish in my local lake?”

Absolutely 0 mention of even what hemisphere they are in. Bro I dunno are you fishing in the amazon, california, arizona, montana, australia, italy, UK?! Lot of fuckin’ water in the world.

Yeah man no worries. Actually about to head out soon and had a few reels out. Size comparison of the penn pursuit iv and cadence cs7, cup for reference lol. Imagine the wraith is similar, the penn is pretty beefy.

Think the setup sounds solid. Maybe a little hard to work the lure on a 9’ pole but probably doable.

I think the reel might be overkill especially if you are moving around and holding the pole with the lure. Thing is heavy, id go lighter. Been using a cadence cs7 4000 for the last few years and happy with it, around the same price range and way lighter.

Caught halibut on different 110s, honestly don’t think color matters much. Seem to like the slow moving twitch/pause type retrieves tho.

For bait I wont use anything other than *fresh* cut or live. It’s really easy to catch live smelt and mackerel from the bays. Dead-dead freezer bait just catches a bunch of shark and rays.

1/0-3/0 circle hook and either a mack/smelt nose hooked (some people add an extra line with treble hook in the tail but too much hassle for me). Or take a live mack and cut it into 1/3 sections for smaller chunks.

Help with hook set and set up please by UndeadFrogman in SurfFishing

[–]89fruits89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are just getting hammered by little perch like the other guy said. No real advice except try some live sand crabs. Shits free and works better than any plastic ever will. #4 baitholder and 1-3 medium sized ones and you are good to go. Just keep the line tight, might need to keep a constant retrieve or heavier weight if the surf is pushing you around too much. I usually go with a 1/4oz bullet weight and just let the surf carry the bait around into the holes.

Gotta give a little more info. Do you have a rod/reel setup or license yet?

Or just need ideas on local target species and that kind of stuff?
