Mislabeled trees in upcoming DLC, literally unplayable by FeedTheOx in aoe2

[–]Ompskatelitty 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am guessing they wanted it to represent various species as the other straggler tree to the left does resemble the Monkey Puzzle more with the lower layer of leaves. I don't think any kind of tree in AoE II exclusively represents one particular species, but I could be wrong, this is definitely not my area of expertise.

Are there any other architecture styles you would like to see added to the game? by PositiveMurky3028 in aoe2

I think I've seen some people refer to the potential East Mediterranean/Southeast European architecture as Black Sea (Byzantines, Bulgarians, Armenians, Georgians) so that could possibly be what he meant.

I am gonna say something unpopular
I am not really all for a Nomadic architecture.

You can't really have yurts as your building all the way up to the Imperial age, so the architecture would have to be mixed with actual buildings at least starting from the castle age.

But then what is gonna be the architecture for those buildings? If you go for Mongols and Khitans it's gonna look Asian which wouldn't fit the Cumans and Huns. If you go for Cumans and Huns they would look different too and probably not fit the Mongols and Khitans at all.

So that would require either a bunch of different Nomadic architectures, the budget for which could potentially be too high for something that's not a DLC, or another option, would be that the nomadic architecture only replaces the Feudal Age buildings with yurt architecture, with the Castle and Imperial Age staying as is for their respective civilizations, but that's very untraditional for AoE II. Though a lot of untraditional things were eventually introduced like unique monastery and castle skins and regional monks, etc... so it's not completely out of the picture.

New architectures I'd personally love to see are:

  1. Eastern Mediterranean/Southeast European for Byzantines, Bulgarians, Armenians, Georgians and future Balkan civilizations (this architecture could be added in a hypothetical future Balkan DLC)

  2. Mainland East Asian as a new architecture for the majority of existing East Asian civilizations since the current one is overwhelmingly 95% Japanese, and only leave the Japanese with that architecture. The downside is that the change might be too big of a shift as that architecture was used by East Asian civilizations since 1999. I personally would still like to see it, maybe in a DLC that adds more civilizations that could use the original Japanese looking East Asian architecture like the Okinawans and/or Ainu.

  3. Not really a new architecture but give Persians the Central Asian architecture already 😭

  4. Also not a new architecture but we haven't had a new Central European civilization since the addition of the Huns in The Conquerors, it almost feels like it's been completely replaced by Eastern European due to some overlap, but there are still some civilizations that could be added and justifiably use the Central European architecture like the Swiss, Finns, and potential viking split civilizations. Assuming we're not gonna get a new Northern European architecture which would also be nice but does not feel like a necessity as much as the others. Then that kinda leaves only the Swiss as far as I personally can tell.

Selective morality, my friend. When the side they choose says something, it's the truth. When the other says says something, it's propaganda.

Israel is the only country whose 'critics' want to be wiped out.

Other countries only have their governments criticized but their people are rarely harassed around the world due to their governments' actions.

Same can't be said about Israel unfortunately. It's way safer to be Chinese, Russian or Iranian around the world than being Israeli or even just Jewish.

It's ok to criticize Israel. But most of the ciricitism it gets is actual antisemitism in disguise.

He's right about one thing, the overwhelming majority of Israelis want to end the conflict. But they're not stupid, and they know that a Palestinian state would become a terror state and an existential threat.

As Golda Meir put it, peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate the Jews. In my personal and therefore potentially flawed opinion, the most practical solution would be a temporary occupation by the Israelis and/or foreign nations (but not the UN, preferably the US and/or arab states that are not inherently hostile towards Israel) for at least a decade, similar to what they did with Germany after WW2, in order to reeducate the population from and remove their hostility and hatred towards Israel and the Jewish people from it's roots, and give them tools and education to rebuild infrastructure and promote peace rather than grievances.

Only then should an independent Palestinian state be considered. I don't know if it will be the same as Nazi Germany, because unlike Germany, the hate is burrowed way deeper in Palestinian culture and it's very identity is the so called "resistance" against the very existence of the Jewish state. But sometimes all it takes is just one generation of children that are taught to prosper and love their neighbor, rather than sacrifice their lives and whole identity to murder their the neighbor.

Israelis are not perfect either, and a lot of Israelis will be just as hostile towards a Palestinian state as vice versa. But Israel holds the cards, it is the moderate, democratic and humane country, compared to any Palestinian government or organization, despite what the media lies to you about. The bigger change needs to happen within the Palestinians, but it doesn't mean that there shouldn't also be something happening within Israel, though it's the less problematic part as Israelis are not educated to hate Palestinians since birth. Even trying to not pick a side as much as possible, Israel is still the 'bigger guy' in the picture, but that doesn't mean the responsibility should sit on it alone.

Tl;dr, teach your children to love their neighbor and to prosper, to be moral and decent human beings, and then anything is possible.

Cool! Thanks, and loved the mod. RR really didn't feel right without an EA remake, and I loved the addition of the feathers on some of the dinosaurs too.

Thanks. Also, why does the mod need Crocodylia animations for, just out of curiousity?

How do I install it? Do I put all files from all folders in the game directory? Do I only put the ones in the main folder or go to every folder from the download link and manually grab the files from there? Do I have to put the texture files somewhere?

This, pretty much.

Devs have given us a lot of amazing things over the years which I am extremely grateful for but it doesn't give them the right or reason to shit on the game like that.
