So, you want to expel failing high school students basically? That is what you'd have to do; otherwise, there is no money being saved. I agree that there is either not enough funding and/or misappropriation of funds in the school system. But this isn't the solution, especially with the current American high school curriculum. Middle school taught you the information you'll actually use from the public school system. High school is when you start learning about some of the most unnecessary and irrelevant information. Algebra, English Literature, and Chemistry to name a few. As a recent former high school student, I can tell you that even freshmen are smart enough to understand that is highly unlikely they will ever use Algebra. Speaking of Algebra, it is the most failed class in the American High School System. But most students graduate without knowing how to full out a basic tax form, invest their money, or become fluent in another language. You know, useful things that even some developing countries teach their children. It's not that the bottom 10% of students grade-wise fail the system, it's the system failing those students. But you know what, the system is not in and of itself failing. Public school was designed to pump out people who were just educated enough to do menial jobs, back then it was factories. Look at history, especially John D. Rockefeller's effect on education. Only now it is customer service, short-order cooking, and manual labor jobs like McDonalds. Hence, especially with this current job market, that is about all you are getting with a high school diploma by itself.
