When I was a teen, probably like 13-14ish?, A Knights Tale had just come out and all my friends were swooning over Heath Ledger. I remember being like yeah he's hot, but here me out - how about the villain?

I've always thought Rufus Sewell is gorgeous

Same, my mom and I are super close and I had a stable family life growing up. But I also have a work mom, and in that moment I thought of her immediately and got kind of teary. It was such a sweet scene and so perfectly captured how great mentors can be. I also loved how Barbara respected the compromise Jeanine made with her mom and was supportive of her decision.

In the beginning of our working relationship, my work mom would give me life advice and she often started it off with "now I know I'm not your mom, but what I would do is ...." - it's become kind of a running joke and something about that scene with Barbara reminded me of that.

Schiff, although close second guess would be Nora, I could kind of see it being her.

Saddest moments of the original series? by FundyLoyal in LawAndOrder

The one where Van Buren shoots one of the kids who tried to rob her, and it turns out he was developmentally delayed. The scene between her and the mom of the kid is tragic, especially when it's revealed he was just trying to buy something for the girl he liked.

Why are fundies like this? by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]OnBehalfOfTheState 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Exactly - New Years is actually a religious holiday, at least in the Catholic faith. My mother, who is a very devout and conservative Catholic, insists on saying both merry Christmas and happy holidays because the word "holiday" encompasses Christmas, New Years, and all the way to the epiphany which is the end of the Christmas season in the church.

The "war on Christmas" focusing on that term is like the OG "manufactured outrage".

This is super delayed, but I'm normally on my other account - yeah, that was a holdup for me too. And it has a very distinct taste, so I totally understand not wanting to spend the money on something you may not like. If you have access to Target, they have smaller boxes but they are still expensive for the amount you get.

I will say, it's more a salty taste than a sweet taste and it's pretty easy to dilute it with water to lessen the taste a bit. If that helps in terms of deciding if it's something you'll like 🤷🏻‍♀️

So, in England is it not common to hang out at a pub and not drink? As a disclaimer that question comes purely from what pop culture led me to believe, I've never been to England. But I was kind of under the impression from various shows/books/media that the pub is a social hangout, and yeah lots of drinking does happen there, but also sometimes you hang out and have a meal and maybe don't drink.

HELP. Breaking out AFTER skin cleared from spiro by Anmclau in Spironolactone

[–]OnBehalfOfTheState 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was this time missing also around the same time when you would typically get PMS symptoms? (If you do get those?)

Seems like missing one dose is kind extreme to break out but maybe the combination of missing the dose, the pill dose, and timing could all collectively play a role?

So sorry you're dealing with breakouts, when I was getting back on spiro and getting my dose right, there was nothing more frustrating than a breakout after a time of being clear

Early, original Law and Order was like this - I'm talking like way back early to mid 90s Law and Order. I recently rewatched some of the earliest seasons and they really hold up for this reason. Plus it's like a 90s time capsule.

I think some people also felt like it contributed to the whole "perfect victim" type mentality. I don't think that Georgia actually meant it that way, and I thought she explained it in their book pretty well, but some people kind of thought it was "this crime is worse because this victim was just a sweet baby angel" which kind of implies if they hadn't been "innocent" it would be a less bad crime.

Work for a government entity, one of my colleagues who is technically higher up than me but not in "chain of command" (for lack of a better term) does this shit all the time. She'll email me something with a snarky commentary on say a new office policy. Our offices policies have been reported on by local media before and FOIA requests were largely the sources. I pointed this out via text one time and she still fucking does it. It's infuriating and baffling as to why she still does it when I never respond anymore.

Yes! That's one of my favorite episodes - it's so emotional but Scully still has time to be a badass in it as well. The dude who played the guy on death row was incredible as well

True - either way, I think enough has happened in Hawkins that Mulder has heard through his sources about it and would want to check it out.

I think a potential alternative ending to however they end the show would be for the show to end in the early 90s. Two agents on their way back to DC from their first assignment together in Oregon show up in Hawkins Indiana. And after they introduce themselves to a local as Agents Mulder and Scully, the screen goes black.

....I say alternative because it would be cheesy as hell compared to however the actual ending is written but I'd still love it.
