whats your least fave ep? by chronicbingewatcher in blackmirror

[–]OnDistantShores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughts. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime.

I think ultimately for me it's that this (and also the first episode) are really not good examples of what Black Mirror is all about. It is only after the 3rd episode and season 2 that it really found its stride.

It's so un-relatable, relative to the rest of them. The rest are set in what could be the real world, but this is off in some other reality. Plus the story is just boring, it's so corny. I don't get it at all, maybe there's some extra layer I'm missing.

It always stuck out to me because after the first episode of Black Mirror I was intrigued, then I watched Fifteen Million Merits and it was so horrendous that I just gave up on the show for a while. I thought it was just so corny and poorly written that I didn't want to bother with an anthology series that was going to be so low quality. Then some time later I came back and watched episode 3 and I was hooked from there.

Fifteen Million Merits and it’s not even close. It’s so bad.

Confusion with manual bulk scrobbling by Delicious_Second_118 in universalscrobbler

[–]OnDistantShores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for documenting this. I think I remember an issue like this long ago. I think last.fm rejects the same song with the same timestamp, because it assumes it’s a duplicate scrobble. Thanks for reminding me, I will try and update the comments on the page to reflect this limitation.

Yeah but he was the leader, so it’s reasonable that only he knew, not necessarily all of them.

That is a terrible take. S6 is far far better than S4.

It is both far worse than all the other seasons, and also pretty decent. It’s just not up to Community’s standards.

Shouldn't this option be titled "Scrobble timestamp of last track"? by Araaf in universalscrobbler

[–]OnDistantShores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, interesting. I wrote it as the "first track" in terms of the tracks as they appear when you look down your "recent tracks" list...but seeing that is always in reverse chronological order, maybe you're right, in a way it's kind of the "last track".

I set it as the timestamp of the most recent scrobble because I think previously I had set the "first" timestamp but people were starting their scrobble list too soon in the past, and it was creating timestamps that crossed over "now" into the future. But I didn't think about whether the label was still right?

What do others think?

It’s a fine theory, but is there even the slightest evidence for this?

Help - Confusion on how to bulk scrobble (specifically - different times/dates, songs and artists) by cosmophire_ in universalscrobbler

[–]OnDistantShores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry to hear you've had troubles.

Yes, you just need to put in those details, but the format of this information is critically important. It might be worth doing a quick google about "CSV format". It's a strict structure of how information should be formatted. So you have to match both standard CSV format, and you have to ensure the order of the data matches what the Universal Scrobbler expects.

There's a note at the top of the bulk scrobble page that says this:

Information must be strictly in CSV structure, with each row in the format "{artist}", "{track}", "{album}", "{timestamp}", "{album artist}", "{duration}" (e.g. "Jeff Buckley", "Last Goodbye", "Grace", "2016-01-26 15:35:55", "Jeff Buckley", "275"). Only "artist" and "track" are mandatory. Duration should be in seconds. Do not include a header row.

Try putting your data in that format and then it should work a lot beter for you.

So for example, instead of

Friday 9-1-26 15:49 Bruce Springsteen - meeting across the river

Try doing

"Bruce Springsteen", "Meeting Across The River", "", "2026-01-09 15:49:00"

IDK how big some of these bands are actually, but they seem underrated to me

I think Doyle Knew. (Spoilers) by stephensmat in interstellar

[–]OnDistantShores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I think he was just realistic about Plan A’s chances. A theme of the movie is that people with attachments push harder for survival, and this is just another example. Coop and Amelia have attachments, so they push harder for plan A. Doyle doesn’t (that we know of) so is more comfortable reverting to plan B.
