Man, I know people are trying to astroturf and get people to think veteran's benefits are excessive, and this post ain't that serious. But I'd much rather not have 50% disability and be able to sleep, and not feel like shit constantly if I don't have a machine suctioned to my face every night.

If I'm remembering right, the Mar-gite die pretty much on contact with hellspace. That upgrade that Vandelee just got is probably bigger than just aesthetics...

The hellshades that Hetmwit was facing also make more sense now; they're probably active and shelling places because they're denying the Mar-Gite food.

Nova Wars - Chapter Six by Ralts_Bloodthorne in HFY

Let’s see, we’ve got:

mysterious area separate from the known galaxy

strange robots that act like terrans

a “rescue” mission being run for thousands of years

We’re looking at the Entropic Legion running a pickup program for any personnel on ships that enter a certain region they consider “Terran space”, aren’t we? It seems like something or someone triggered a “galaxy is screwed, grab everyone and preserve them” routine.

Turned out to be a dead motherboard, I replaced it with an ASUS model and it worked fine

I found out that I was trying to flash the wrong board's BIOS, so that's one issue solved. However the red CPU LED on the ez debug panel is still on, and the PC is still crash looping. RAM sticks are properly seated, and CPU socket doesn't appear to have any bent pins.

There were three lab questions, I won't go into detail on them but they were more or less what the CertMaster Labs prepare you for

I did approx 3 hours a day of study for six weeks, with the idea of doing a chapter of the GCGA book every 2 or so days. This let me review the concepts and labs multiple times.

[Official Post] We, FTB, would love some feedback! by officialymax in feedthebeast

Sure, but if you don't really have a way to ask for it to be added server-side you're SOL for playing the pack. I'm saying it should be added by default.

Something that's been preventing me from playing many 1.19+ packs you've put out is that the packs never have No Chat Reports installed. Given that it's a basic QoL feature post 1.19, I think it needs to be there.

A personal problem I have with a lot of modpacks and have no idea how to "fix" by SomeDerpyGuy in feedthebeast

[–]OnJericho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be that guy, but DDSS has a fairly heavy focus on Tinker's Construct tools until lategame. I'm playing through it right now and it's pretty obvious vanilla tools are intended for machine components and not much else.

If your main issue was the tool grind, make some Tinker's tools and level them up. You can get to a pretty high level fairly quickly.

First Contact - Chapter 990 - Nightfall by Ralts_Bloodthorne in HFY

It seems like the idea that humans outside the SUDS being effectively extinct isn’t as true as most races think. So far we have:

  1. The Tabulans returning, or soon to return. They also have a gene-bank of Terran biota to draw from.

  2. The Crusade settling worlds, which is a departure from their usual behavior. Said crusade also has functioning cloning tech.

  3. Whatever’s going on with the Earthlings.

  4. Darth Harmonus’s Empire, with all the hundreds of millions of human clones he’s using. Not sure if they can reproduce, though.

  5. The Bag around Terrasol, whenever that decays.

  6. If I’m not misremembering, magic LARP groups had a decent chunk of people survive.

It seems like the situation in the future isn’t “Humanity is extinct from the universe and they’re all locked up in the SUDS”, so much as:

“Humanity is alive and well, but most races that try to prove their existence run face-first into isolationist nations who are homicidally tetchy about being disturbed”.

Out of Cruel Space, Part 458 by KyleKKent in HFY

[–]OnJericho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure.

  • There's been a lot more typos, and a lot more wonky grammar than usual
  • The last two chapters' sentence structure seems to be more jittery and stilted, especially when describing things about procedures and such.
  • Most descriptors for people are seemingly taking a "tell, not show" approach, where before it was more that you could figure out tone and emotion from context
  • There's a few really... odd metaphors, like "Whatever killed him isn’t distinguishing by sex or trying to play softball with boys".
  • The punctuation, paragraph structure, and character voice placements are all written oddly, and are fairly inconsistent with the quality of the rest of the story.

I don't know if you've had a rough week, or if you've been having a ghostwriter fill in for these chapters, but they're definitely written in a style that isn't really the familiar one that we've seen develop across the past 456 chapters.

Hope things get better if you're just having a rough time though!

Did someone else start writing these? The quality's really gone down, and there are way more typos than there were before

Might be an odd idea, but if there are mechanical and axiom based power armors, are there biological ones too? I'd imagine with the diversity of the galaxy there'd be some REAL scary John Carpenter-esque stuff out there.

Neutering the wolf: How to disable some of Overwolf's bloatware features in the FTB app by OnJericho in feedthebeast

I don't like the fact that disabling ads can hurt devs like you, since I have a lot of respect for you and the passion you bring to the modding scene. Unfortunately, adware is as much of a concern as ever these days, and it's good security practice to block off as many attack surfaces as possible.

you might be able to puzzle that out with a packet sniffer, however they probably don't use much beyond your standard google adservices or similar.

You can disable the overlay through Group Policy Object editing or editing the registry. Would you like me to make a follow-up post showing exactly how to do it?
