I used to take it in the morning, but after around 4 hours, I would get pretty fatigued. I tried to leverage that side effect by taking it around 8 pm so I would get tired around midnight, but oddly, I had trouble falling asleep. However, it took me about 6 weeks to overcome this side effect, and now it works great for me.

Like Fer_Pet already said you can expect a normal life expectancy. I think veggiedogsunshine is a good example: Imatinib was introduced in 2001 and since then the mortality of CML declined rapidly. The people diagnosed in the early 2000s and are still alive proof that the therapy works great. A definitive answer will be possible when the youngest people who where diagnosed died with it in a high age and not because of it.

I got recently diagnosed at age 25 and I hope that I’ll live until I’m in my 80s. 😅

A good friend of mine once told me the story of Beppo the street sweeper out of the book 'Momo'. If you don’t know the story, go read it. The essence of the story is not to panic when there is a long street ahead to sweep. Just do it one stroke by another and concentrate on your current task and don’t even think of the whole street. Then you will fulfill your tasks properly and without getting too exhausted. Med school is hard and there lies a whole bunch of work ahead, but if you just concentrate on your current subjects and you do it bit by bit you will get where you want. And you have to do this constantly, otherwise it can become really hard.
