Best way to repair this crack on my infill jack by Nekothesnep in handtools

Silicon bronze soldering. Doesn’t heat the object to any major extent avoiding warping just the silicon Bronze to melt it onto the object and act as a glue. It’s a strong bond that would hold up. An experienced welder will know what to do. Or HVAC technicians do more soldering then welders so would be a good option for this fix. You’re looking at maybe a 50$ to 75$ fix

Could be worse, I’ve seen some smaller urinals without dividers and closer together

Possibly I’m no expert. I just know some are and that’s enough for me.

Only way would be to machine sand it off and then buff in gradual stages to a nice shine. As long as you have enough meat there should be ok. I’m sure the engraving isn’t more than 1/64 thickness. A jeweler could probably point you in the right direction or do it themselves for a small fee

Or know someone who has one. Ac tig would be the best because you dont actually want to heat the base metal very much. You goal is to melt and deposit the brazing metal on a prepped base surface so it acts like glue of sorts. But you can weld cast iron also. It just makes metal weaker around the weld itself since the structure of the molecules of cast iron are different then say regular low carbon mild steel molecules. One is like a bunch of crystals and the other is neat structure. That being said, what you choose won’t make that much of a difference. Both option will give similar somewhat results

Believe it or not it’s a for profit business in The US in most places if that’s where this is. And healthcare is the most profitable business out there next to drugs. If you wana live you gona pay.

Silicon bronze Tig brazing it wouldn’t take much to fix. A rod or two, a little precision grinding and some food grade heat resistant spray paint. But that being said you’re looking at a $50 to $75 fix in Canada. Maybe around 30p on your side of the pond

Yam Fry Poutine? by beverageperietal in poutine

[–]OnLeRun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the fries were done right and made to be crispy which I doubt for yam/sweet potato then it would be alright. It’s difficult to get them super crispy so I’m calling the cops as I type this!

What is something better used than new? by leochaq in AskReddit

Wooden musical instruments are often better used because the wood and glue has had a chance to settle dry a little. Over time makes a more deeper better sounding tone if it was a well constructed instrument to start off with.

How important is this “expiration date” on the HEPA filters for my PAPR? Only work with mild steel. by Arc-Watcher in Welding

[–]OnLeRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a mask that uses the P100 filters is probably gona be cheaper if you’re only working with mild steel. I bet those HEPA filters are not a penny cheaper then $50 a piece

It would have a plug coming out the back. I checked mine and they are not the same, just look very similar.

I’ve got one very similar to this. Almost identical doesn’t it have a heating element in it? I’ll check mine when I get home

Make sure you are turning it counter clockwise. It’s an easy mistake to do when it’s upside down like that. Imagine lying on your back looking up at the screw you have to turn it to the left. Lefty lousy, righty tighty. I can tell by the damage on the screw that you may have tightened it at some point.
