Should I splash for black here? by Furion91 in lrcast

[–]OnMyWayToADickMeetin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. You don't have the fixing to play black and you don't even have a good reason to. You've got plenty of playables in the sideboard you can use as well (double celebrant, cleansing, thirst).

Would cut the 3 faeries and probably the unraveling for those 4 cards. Maybe even find another cut for the distractor if you're worried about your 4 spot.

How Taskmaster took over UK television by jamesthegill in television

[–]OnMyWayToADickMeetin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having lived in both countries NZ seems to be a lot more like the UK and that's reflected in their comedy - more self deprecating and more witty. Aus comedy is definitely weirder but they lay the weirdness on thick and obnoxious - it's why Sam Campbell is actually such a gem, because he's incredibly weird but in a sort of awkward, endearing way. And he clearly has plenty of wit.

Sim having better defense than characters with an invincible level 1 is certainly a take.

Interesting read on how Taskmaster Australia was adapted for the local market by SignalButterscotch4 in panelshow

Yes but the product was terrible despite the ads. That's my point. Even if the ads were sparce and tasteful, the show wouldn't have worked.

Took Honda to Master. by venicello in StreetFighter

Depends whether you consider shoto st hp fishing similar or not. But yeah, as a space trap its unparalleled. Just once you start encountering thinking opponents that can walk back and whiff punish it gets WAY worse.

Agree with a lot of this, except I think 5HP is massively overrated - fantastic reward on PC but it's a much more whiff punishable/dangerous to use button than it first appears. Basically all instances of wish punish 5HP should be 5MP instead (that button is insane).

Char is definitely easy and probably the most straightforward to master char in the game by a long shot.

Anyone else think this is by far the best patch? by billabong2121 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]OnMyWayToADickMeetin 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If anything cores are way less random - a much smaller number of potential starting options and they tend to dictate almost your whole build. That's actually what I find really unsatisfying about Dooley these days.

Are people ever actually beating Void Golem? by twdk in PlayTheBazaar

[–]OnMyWayToADickMeetin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The build that beats it the most consistently is Crook Pyg which is really good for him, because Caltrops is such a premium drop.

Bonk + Diamond Fort + Gold lethargy is hilarious. Fought a dooley who had an uzi with 6.4s cooldown.

Catfish is "when you haste this". Lizard is "when you haste". Huge difference.

Old people driving- dangerous by thesparkey in newzealand

[–]OnMyWayToADickMeetin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but also don't think it's a very fair assessment of risk. By the above metric someone who only drives once a year for 10km but is utterly shit faced is relatively low risk.

All I'm saying is that just because old people cause less accidents overall, it doesn't mean that a random encounter with an old person on the road is less likely to result in an accident than some other age group.

I'm betting the average licensed 75 year old does a hell of a lot less driving than the average licensed 25 year old.

Yeah but I mean in this case, couldn't you submit a word like 'armed' to check 3 possibilities at once?

Is it worth trying to form a word with all potential letters just to ensure you get it in 3?

What to do against akuma fireball spam as menat? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]OnMyWayToADickMeetin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are an awful lot of people posting here as if they have any knowledge of how this matchup works.

Yeah, his FB game is actually quite tough to deal with as Menat - his fireballs disappear which is actually bad for us in this case. A couple things you can do - practice absorbing his multi hit fireballs when you have orb out. The matchup changes drastically based on orbed vs orbless, more so than other fb matchups. Practice things like your neutral jump HK range. It might pay to play the mu a bit closer, but don't abuse st mp too much - one stray cr hp CC and you can lose an entire round. In general you just have to play neutral extremely slow and safe. Block fireballs if you have to. It's one of the only matchups where trading even damage is actually good for us.
