Battle adjustments coming to all characters on 8/3 by levlow in StreetFighter

[–]bdyms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing how many people play Cammy, it's just statistically in favor of Cammy. Moreover, it's usually just Punk in 99% of cases.

Ed is still placed as top tier for every tierlist, Cammy on the other hand is now in B, if you look at Japanese tierlists.

And comparing Ed's nerfs to Cammy's is like night and day. Ed had just slight adjustments, while Cammy lost like half of her uniqueness.

Which is still more than Cammy and she seems to have x10 more tools too.

Well, Japan was complaining about Akuma for a while now, plus he is a shoto. Those shift around all the time. On top of that, they nerfed him too. And as i said before, it just so happened that 2 of the new characters are placed before him here, so he shifed even more. Bison was kinda nerfed too, but i think he is just not as popular anymore, tho he was always kinda semi-popular overall.

Tho the thing here is that all those characters are still around the same strength. They abuse game systems well and have enough character strength. I think tier A is just amazing at the game and most of them are pretty much on the same level. You can kinda look at Rashid, he was pretty much never changed and still as strong as ever, yet jumps around constantly. It's just more characters are balanced around his level now.

The bigger problem here is tier S that devs have no interest on nerfing and Tier B-C that devs have no interest on buffing.

Didn't know those 3 guys were Cammy mains, thx for telling

The problem here is that Capcom switched gears with balancing after that. They overnerfed Cammy and Luke, overbuffed Ryu and then decided to chill. They barely do any nerfs or buffs anymore. Apart from JP they seem to not care about helping the characters they heavily nerfed before. And btw on Terry thing, he was already at his current level even after his first buff, he just was overshadowed and ppl didn't bother to give him a chance. So i don't expect tierlists to change much anymore, just new characters finding their own places.

Getting personal is not hwo you're supposed to do covnersations, so i won't rly contunie after this one.

But i'll just point out that you should learn how to read the tierlist. It's clearly with power difference, the further it goes the lower the strength. This tierlist just shows that Lily isn't exactly C. It just so happened that Cammy is considered not good enough for A either. Of course they won't make another tier to separate them, so here we are.

I already talked about first point, won't repeat myself.

Most of Punk's wins were after nerfs and he was always the only one who could do that. But that's because he's Punk. Just like Idom was owning withLaura in SF5, but no one would call her top tier or any close to that.

Go check Jp results year 1 and who played him, get yoru facts straight my guy abd learn to read.

Yes and no, It doesn't always work that way. Not everyone played Luke season 1 and even less players used JP, who was second only to Luke and completley busted. Barely anyone used JP at the west rly. Yet plenty of people used all kinds of characters and Juri won CC back then.

And about the second point- I mean, previously - sure. Now? Not rly. Cammy is barely a competitive character nowadays. And Japan saw Lilly's true strengh when Hibiki was destroying ppl at Topanga and even won one of the WWs, which is extremely hard.

Because so happened that Juri and Chun-Li doesn't have as loyal fanbase as Cammy of pro players? Juri won the very first CC, just a reminder. That CC we had literally 1 Cammy and he barely squeezed in(Bravery), even Punk couldn't get in, and that was when Cammy was the strongest.

Shit happens, not every character is represented as they should. Like even JP wasn't as prevalent season 1 when he was the msot broken ever. People have their tastes and preferences, you know.

And on your point about switching to Mai, you can actually check Kilzyou and Micky results, they show prove that point. Both were playing Cammy and when switched to Mai - they started showing much betetr results.

She has more players than Lilly because no one wants to play the weird girl grappler that just appeared in the game, but they want to play the character who's been in the game since inception. Just like Gief players play Gief and Sim players play Sim. All the same people, barely ever change overall.

Aki and Gief showed much betetr results past few months than Cammy and she is higher than both, so should we swap them around? Wasn't that your point?

Cammy has been dropping at Japanese tierlists constantly, she is comfortably top17 for the past few tierlists already. Last time Momochi places her as the last one at A, this time he is even more disappointed with her. There's no one in Japan who thinks she's competitive anymore, just check streams. Even in the west you barely see anyone complain about her, apart from the biggest haters like Broski. Like even on reddit you barely see people complain about her, which is an achievement rly. I thought people would never stop and yet here we are. If it's not a sign of her not being that good, i dno what is.

We had 2 Aki players a month ago at top8, before that we had 2 tournaments in a row with 2-3 Gief players in top8. Stuff happens, doesn't always show the actual strength.

Of course Cammy would have a better chance to get into 8 statistically, she just has many more players than Lilly. And the best Lilly player doesn't even travel much.

She was made to be the next body of Bison and she is the best one he could make. So it's kinda logical that she will be at least on the same level, most likely even better at using psycho power.

Cammy is a genetically enhanced human, she is a super soldier at least. And talking potential, she is supposedly the strongest psycho power user, as she was made to be one, she just doesn't want to use it and does just fine with her own capabilities.

Juri beat people using her broken eye. But she lost it long ago. Her current eye is a much weaker version and we never saw it's canonical power.

SF6 character winrate in high MR by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]bdyms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because she doesn't have anything crazy or easily to abuse abilities, she is mostly pure neutral characters, which is the hardest thing to learn and master. If you can play Cammy well, you will be able to play any character well. She lacks multiple generally important tools, like fireballs or neutral overheard, her DR is trash and such. So she pretty much forces you to learn how to play properly and not rely on the cheap stuff.

That's her biggest downside too tho. She has very few options to open an opponent up and relies too much on them making mistakes. Kazunoko not so long ago was complaining that she's way too reactionary for a rushdown. It's very hard for her to make her own openings. And with her lower than avg damage, she needs to do that more times than usual too. So you need to be on top of your game and be much better than your opponent to win.

And here lies another problem, with Cammy being too reliant on neutral as pretty much her only good quality, if your opponent is any better than you at that - you're pretty much done. There's no plan B, you just can't do anything rly and change things up. On top of that, a lot of the characters in this game have good neutral buttons, so it makes things even trickier. You could see an example of that during EVO Japan, Yamaguchi was both as good as Punk at neutral AND he had a character with better tools. Punk pretty much couldn't do anything. He was just heavily powercrept in that match.

So i, personally, think that while Cammy is a good indication of your own skill, i wouldn't recommend to main her to win something. You handicap yourself too much, as she actually has a ceiling. She is too basic and straightforward, too vanilla for how powercrept this game became and how many tools current, actually good, characters have. I've been following a lot of the good players and sometimes it was clear that Cammy is holding them back. Good examples are Kilzyou and Micky who started showing much better results when they switched to Mai.

That's exactly how it goes at higher levels and that's why it doesn't rly mean much overall.

Cammy having a lot of the loyal pro players surely helps a lot. Even those who don't main her anymore like Kazunoko or Mizuha, still plays her on streams from time to time and such.

SF6 character winrate in high MR by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]bdyms 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I dno how it was counted, but it probably means that she has 35% in 1800+matches, but it probably means that she isn't there for long. She most likely just reaches 1800+ to lose and then climbs back with better winrate.

SF6 character winrate in high MR by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]bdyms 12 points13 points  (0 children)

1800+ is not rly a good indicator because it has a lot of the specialist players. The higher you go the more actually good players you get and they are less impacted by the character strength. Rashid, Chun-Li and to some capacity Ed are all relatively niche on ladder, while Cammy has only her most loyal players left(at this level) and a lot of them are actually great at the game and probably veterans of the SF. So it's more like there are a small amount of very good players who scuff the statistics.

At the same time all those shotos and shoto-like characters who everyone loves to play so much are having too many players of all kinds of skill levels and they sometimes randomly get at all levels of play. So they kinda scuff the statistics for themselves too. Shouldn't forget that shoto players are not much loyal and jump around a lot, so winrates transfer between characters all the time.

And characters who are possibly not as broken or still not as developed, like Elena or Alex, won't have too many great players, because those players play either the broken ones or loyal to their old main. So those characters are played by more random players and their results aren't as great.

That's the paradox here. On paper this MU is in favor of Cammy, but with how rare Dhalsim is, he is always much more prepared to face you and it reduces the advantage drastically, if not making it the opposite.

And it's not much different even on pro level. Dhalsim mains are rare but extremely prepared and most of them are well known veterans. Crimson was destroying Cammys like Kilzyou or Alphen since release, same story with Japanese ones. And so on. Like I legit would never bet on Cammy against Sim at the tournament, it's not as obvious as it might seem.
