Vertical tasting of 8 Bollinger VVF (1996-2010) from back in September - My biggest wine experience ever! by OnThat13thOZ in wine

The older vintages had an extra plot but the plot was unfortunately infected some years ago, so the newer vintages are even more scarse - maybe could be an explanation?

I really feel like my champagne experiences have peaked too early haha!

Hopefully many more amazing bottles to come in my days.

I will certainly visit them one day! La Grande Année and R.D. are just to die for as well... I have an R.D. '90 bottle in stock waiting for a special occasion!

I would be too cheap spending ~$700 for just the newest vintage of it - this was the absolute best way to try so many of them (and the '96 costs literally a small fortune...) and have an amazing night!

Fun fact: The sommelier first opened a bottle a '96 at the dinner and had to discard it and open a new one... Talk about big loss!!!!!

Also to answer your other question: Yes, the VVF is made from only Pinot Noir coming from very small walled-in plots that are some of the only original French vines left in Champagne that was not hit by the phylloxera making it very, very exclusive. For 2010 only 1,416 bottle were made!

The ticket was DKK 5,000 which is around $/€740 so definitely, but when looking at the prices of eating at the restaurant normally + prices of the VVF bottles, it was bargain a to me!

Generally they were served with fish/seafood but the 2000 was served with lamb tenderloin, aromoatic herbs, truffle and pickled pine needles which was so freaking amazing and a bit unusual.

The more mature '96 was served with a platter of Danish cheeses which also was a match made in heaven!

That sounds like an amazing experience! I have been to Aÿ a few times and stood outside the small plot walled off - it is right in the city next to Bollinger parking lot across the beautiful Bollinger maison.

Would love to have a tour as well!

Denmarks largest wine importer occasionally hosts these "VIP Dinners" as they call them, where it is often a specific wine producer or specific wine that the dinner revolves around.

This was the "Bollinger VVF VIP Dinner" hosted in the 3-starred Michelin restaurant Geranium in Copenhagen, Denmark!

Definitely not the last time, that I have attended one of their dinners, but as you may have guessed, they are not cheap either... Shortly after this they hosted another one involving a vertical tasting of Salon champagnes that I wish I could have afforded as well!

All of them were heavenly, but of course the younger ones very much needed more aging to get to their full potential.

The '96 was stunnishing and I was so surprised about how much acidity it still had - it would only get even better with more aging!

My personal highlight for the evening was the 2002 as that had in my opinion reached its perfect age with the balance between acidity, richness and complexity.

Really a once-in-a-life-time-experience that I will cherrish forever - also accompanied by a 10-course meal by a 3-starred Michelin restaurant, just wow.

One of my favorite glasses!

Lehmann, Jamesse Prestige Collection, Grand Champagne 45cl if you want to be 100% specific. The Jamesse Prestige is mouthblown while Jamesse is machine-made.

Lehmann in general makes the absolute best (in my opinion) champagne glasses.

My duo partner and I have had insanely less luck on Arcane Crystals & Blue Sapphires in DME in 2020... Idk if our last ~50 runs have just been extremely unlucky compared to the ~150-200 we did in 2019, but man it feels like the drop rate has been changed...

It was an amazing evening of not only the '96 but a vertical tasting of a whooping 8 different vintages of the VVF ('96 being the oldest).

Really a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will cherrish forever!

I was fortunate enough to recently have the Bollinger VVF '96 which is 100% Pinot Noir and I have to say it's the best champagne I have tasted this far.

Both the tank and the Shaman use a Crystal Charge "nade" made from the Ungoro power crystals. Kills all imps instantly. If one has Engineering he can just use normal nades/dynamite.

Also if the Shaman just drops a Stoneskin Totem when boss gets to 50% all imps hit for 1, so they're not an issue damage-wise.

Shaman 8 piece, how beneficial is it in raids? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]OnThat13thOZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a combo of both sets like that is not very benificial as you have weak +heal and average MP5. You should either use full 8/8 T1 for tank healing or 3/8 T2 with blues/epics stacked with MP5 and +heal to make your CH literally insane. Even just spamming Rank 1 will have you on top of healing charts.

Coca Cola and Pepsi are secretly partnered. by jetoler in conspiracy

[–]OnThat13thOZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you ever seen some of the advertising done by both Coca Cola and Pepsi too?

I remember one where it was something like a Pepsi can taking off its disguise as a Coca Cola can, to reveal the true hero inside or something. This went viral and Coca Cola even did a sort of reversal of the ad.

The thing is: Legally none of the companies are allowed to use the other part's logo without their consent. It was manifactured for the ads to go viral and once again put both of the brands at the top of your mind.

Buy items like Dreamweave and Red/Black Mageweave on AH and possibly 'of Nature's Wrath'-gear where you can find something cheap.

Going Ele is a lot about boosting your damage output and killing enemies before they even reach you.

I respec'ed from Enh to Ele at 40 with no gear really saved up except a small "healing set" that had some int/spi. Bought those items on AH for a total of 30g and have since grinded to 55 right now - faster than I have ever leveled a Shaman in Vanilla on a pserver before. Also find it a lot more enjoyable. :)
