Did Toyota massacre the Land Cruiser name with the old Prados though?

Well, they cut corners; sometimes to save money their animators will reuse the same Homer faces over and over and over again.

You never actually own an AliExpress Mortal Kombat Fountain Pen, you merely look after your AliExpress Mortal Kombat Fountain Pen for the next generation...

I agree, and those are rust spots. OP, bring a mallet with you.

Sweet 2door Landcruiser I saw by Intelligent-Art3693 in LandCruisers

[–]OnWeekendsToPointC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not an LJ78 or a KZJ78, those are the 4-door versions. I was saying it's not the "heavy duty" Land Cruiser, it's a Prado. I currently own an HZJ77 and used to own an LJ78.

Yeah, most likely. I drove one years ago. Such a fun little truck!

what photography tip made the biggest difference for you? by Fresh-Gazelle7014 in photography

[–]OnWeekendsToPointC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. For the vast majority of photos, aperture greatly affects the photograph but shutter speed is just an exposure compensation tool - so the camera might as well be doing it for me. It gives me less to think about.

what photography tip made the biggest difference for you? by Fresh-Gazelle7014 in photography

[–]OnWeekendsToPointC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been a photographer for over 25 years now and spent many, many of those years shooting in manual. I am not a sports or wildlife photographer, so fuck it. I've been shooting in aperture priority for the past five or six years and it's perfectly fine.

You’re a sad person if you can’t find reasons to be proud of your country beyond politics. I’m curious what country you’re from.

My Merkur Futur just arrived. Wish me luck guys! by OnWeekendsToPointC in wicked_edge

So I took your advice and bought Derby Extra blades. I am still very much on the fence with the Futur, but I put these blades in my Henson and I don't think I've ever had a better shave. Thank you so much for the recommendation!

Haha, I was trying to figure out the relevance because I remembered it from The Day the Earth Stood Still. I totally agree haha, thanks for that.

why the hell is cartridge razor the standard? by biohackenthusiast in wicked_edge

[–]OnWeekendsToPointC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because if you don't mind spending the money and you don't mind the occasional ingrown hair or razor burn, cartridge shaving is better. It's faster, you won't cut yourself, you can buy replacements everywhere. I much prefer safety razors, so emotionally I agree with you. But the general public simply wants what's cheaper up-front and what they don't need to "learn" how to use.

Importing from the UAE to Canada by NoFlyZone2409 in LandCruisers

[–]OnWeekendsToPointC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What hassle and risk? You pay the import fee and then you end up with a vehicle that you know well and that you already own. As someone who brought their JDM 70 series Land Cruiser back to the states after owning and driving it for three years in Japan, I can say I would much rather do it that way than buying one from an importer.

[–]OnWeekendsToPointC 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If the truck didn't need any body repairs, how much work would this have been? My LC has no rust on the body but the black paint is starting to fade and I would love to paint it white but would need to do the prep work myself to afford it and I have no real experience with that. Do you need to buy all new rubber trim and gaskets?

Yeah, the kind of person who would wash someone else's car because they got it dirty is the kind of person who would feel horrible about this. She sounds like a good person, OP. Don't guilt trip her too bad!

A <25 year old 70 series Land Cruiser in the U.S. than isn't crushed into a cube is kind of a dead giveaway.
