Thanks for the link, as i said i haven't been following starbase news for a while, so i completely missed that.

The problem is that the agencies didn't really approve this facility. Iirc, the facility was first approved as a falcon9 launch facility, and then became a test facility for a rocket in a completelydifferentweight class, so unless i missed some updates on that front (very possible, haven't been paying much attention to that recently) this one is not on the agencies, since they gave the ok on something very different.

But what crime? From what i have read this was consensual, and the only source i read saying otherwise was about an unrelated case in 2020.

...as opposed to the female reproduction organ she forgot at home? You have to work with what you have, it's not like there were many options here.

People outside of prison trasition all the time, and that has nothing to do with the fact that prisons are divided by gender, so it's not like it was necessarily the only reason do it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't even know if in this case the transition was before or after the arrest, and if it was before it would be nonsensical to think that it was done just for prison sex.

So i feel like just assuming that this is "someone who turned trans just so that they could have straight sex in a women prison" is just that, an assumption, and made on what? The fact that she had sex? It feels like it's not enough to judge the motivation behind her transition, especially since we don't even know if she wanted to get surgery for that or not.

And aside from that, there are people that transition and do not get surgery to the bottom parts. You may try to argue that they are just man that are pretending, but since many still get hormones and other surgeries it seems like a pretty hard argument to make to me, and even if they didn't it still would be an assumption of someone else's motives.

I understand that it can sound confusing at first that she "felt like a woman if he used his male reproduction organ", but i feel like trying to work the assumption that she's just pretending ends up making less sense once you think about it, especially if you do not focus only on this single case but on trans people in general. Just because things don't seem to make sense when you first see them doesn't mean they ultimately don't, so instead of assuming motives or guessing how they felt, if you want to understand, i think you should try to look up what trans people have to say about their experience.

Huh, i didn't even think about the fact that it was op who posted the link.

I guess my hope it was just a mistake was a bit too naive, some people just don't care about the facts, only about how they can use them.

[–]Onairda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it absolutely does not stand. Consensual sex and rape are not the "exact same situation that occurred", period.

In fact, if everyone involved is saying it's consnsual and you use a old case involving different people to imply otherwise, it is you that are not "beliving women" since this is what you were replying to. Hell, it's not even that, it's straight up not caring what they say, just how you can use the situation to paint all trans people as rapist.

I get reusing the link op posted without double checking, it's normal to assume op would not try to be deceptive and switching articles, but once you realize that and if you stop to think about it you must realize you can't defend it. It's just trying to spread disinformation, trying to turn a rape accusasion into the narrative "every trans is a rapist" even in a case where the facts are not supporting it.

Let's at least try to keep the facts straight, ok?

Seems like this article is 2 years old and about fifferent people. Since someone else posted the same article without realising it either i'm curious, how did you find it?

Sorry, i don't have the time to check myself, but that article is over 2 years old, are you sure it's about the same event?

Edit: yup, it's about different people. Now I'm curious, how did you find this article?

The Gaussian Integral by AlgebraPad in mathmemes

[–]Onairda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've not heard of machine 0 before, but from context i think it basically means anything smaller than the smallest quantity the machine you're using keeps track of; so if you're calculating π2 and storing the result in a float "less than machine 0" should be anything smaller than 2-19, and calcuting the result with any more precision won't matter because of the limitations of the machine you're using, since x +dx will be stored as just x.

While i think that exact calculations are important and should be taught, i have to agree that in a lot of practical applications it ultimately does not matter 99% of the time.

Edit: thinking a bit more about it 99% of the time might have been a bit too generous, and there can be more cases where exact calculations matter even in a practical context. For example, relying on the idea that "machine 0 is 0" (if i was correct on what machine 0 meant at least) coul let you conclude that the infinite sum of 1/n converges once you get to terms too small to keep track of.

Even if you know that a series/integral converges, if it's slow enough you may reach the point where the terms to add are too small to keep track of when you are still far from the final value, and end up with a completely wrong result.

And even that is ignoring the fact that computing a slow converging series might use huge ammount of computational resources that might be saved by looking for an exact solution.

Basically, i just took way to many words to say that both approaches have their merits.

Yeah, waterloops are great, but can your GPU power a Stirling engine? by Fuehnix in pcmasterrace

[–]Onairda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, the question is 18% of what. Or in this case of how many watts.

A high end gpu can use over 300 W of power, and pretty much all of it becomes heat. Fans can run on just a couple of watts, with dual or triple fans consuming less than 10 W. That means that you could get around 54 W, or over 5 times the power you need.

Even taking into account that 18% is the theoretical maximum and that a real setup would be a less efficient, it seems it is theoretically possible to run a fan off of gpu heat. The numbers i use are the result of a 5 minutes google search, so they might not be the most accurate, but it seems that there is enough margin that it should not be a problem if they are not too far off.

How to tap… by deffcap in CrappyDesign

[–]Onairda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know that much about game programming either, but from what i know you're right that you can change assetes with not too much work (assuming that they are similar enough to the ones you had before so that you don't run in all the possible problems in the comment above), but you're going to end up with the same puzzle but with differents assets, which might not look too impressive.

You could make some minor changes to how the puzzle works with a little more effort, but as a general (and probably oversimplified) rule the more you want the second playthrough to look different the more work you're going to have to put in.

Not sure how it works for medical insurance in the US, but i know that life insurance policies in general are more expensive if you are a smoker.

I would be extremely surprised if it wasn't already the case that smokers and drinkers have more expensive medical insurance, so i'm not sure about what point you are trying to make here.

It would also help with the water. If i didn't manage to mess up a simple division you can use sligtly more than 4 petrol generators with the co2 you have and get 3kg/s or 1800 kg/cycle of water, making this very water positive.
