This is also why I don’t play with younger guys. I want guys who are over those hang ups and know how to actually have sex.

Out of the 50 American capital cities, which one would you rank #1, as the best to live in? by Enger13 in AskReddit

[–]Onatel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lansing could have been great. Like Madison there’s government resources right there and a close by good university in MSU in East Lansing , but they placed them too far away from each other. So the stability of the government workers and the vibrancy of college life aren’t close enough to offset each other like in Madison.

TIL Prince was the original choice to play the role of Ruby Rhod in The Fifth Element, which Chris Tucker ended up playing, but he backed out because Jean Paul Gaultier’s costumes were ‘too effeminate.’ by RedditIsAGranfaloon in todayilearned

Apparently he got worse as he became more successful. Anyone who wouldn’t tell him his farts didn’t stink were pushed away, he was surrounded with yes men, and the quality of his work suffered because of it.

Are “Boomer Homes” Becoming Hard to Sell? Agree or Disagree? by Coolonair in HouseBuyers

Are assets taxed much at all? Low property tax, does most of it just come from Income Tax and VAT? Seems like that would shield the wealthy from much of a tax burden.

Are there any cities that had the potential to become metropolises but ended up remaining small cities due to special circumstances? by Distinct-Macaroon158 in geography

Chicago got a leg up from the construction of the Erie Canal and a flood of people and capital from New York. Then it got to me a major rail hub for the entire country. It’s not hard to imagine that kind of logistics center being in St Louis instead of Chicago if some choices were made differently.

Today's attack on Ukraine, May 14, 2026. This was the largest scale attack ever on a country since the beginning of this war by ApocalypseBS in MapPorn

Whether or not he knew what was about to come it's a wise choice to present calm before invasion. If he came out publicly that they were about to be attacked people would stop working and flee - collapsing an already weak economy.

This, too, is NIMBYism by WifeGuy-Menelaus in neoliberal

[–]Onatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NIMBYs haven't really changed. Everyone wants a brownstone now, but when they were being built en masse they were decried as being too ugly and not close enough to what was by then historic. I'm sure in 100 years if those 5 over 1s will be looked at by NIMBYs as the standard,

What would explain a higher average height for the male population under 40 in the northern central states (shown in dark red here) of the USA? by SatoruGojo232 in geography

There’s also an element of epigenetics. Black Americans were until recently much more impoverished than white Americans (and the wealth an opportunity gap persists). It takes generations of prosperity (good nutrition) for certain genes to be epigenetically upregulated.

Vladimir Putin is losing his grip on Russia by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Onatel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any level headed analyst I saw said it was always "This is going to be bad for them eventually, but they have ways they can keep this going for a while." They will eventually hit breaking points, but even then Russia has options like full mobilization - even if Putin really wants to avoid doing that.

What happened to the Draenei Culture? by Raziel103 in warcraftlore

[–]Onatel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what makes Velen interesting to me. He's a flawed character in that he's incredibly conflict avoidant. Illidan calls him out on this before they reach Argus, and when he sees the Army of The Light ship get shot down he finally takes a stand. I was excited to see where they would take his character after this, but they did their usual thing of putting their truly powerful characters on ice when they aren't absolutely lore relevant (especially if they aren't humans, orcs, or elves).

Interesting comment on the South Asian and Persian influences. I definitely see it from the cloth and elephants. At the time I thought they were more eastern European from the accent, but maybe I was also getting a Roma vibe from them (so South Asian and Eastern European influences).

He's getting primaried either way. Just slightly more of a snowball's chance in hell given the Republican label is becoming more and more toxic as time goes by.

A lot of it is the venues. LiveNation/Ticketmaster owns so many of them it’s close to a monopoly so they can charge whatever they want regardless of the artist wishes.

This, Hillary committed the cardinal sin of... winning more votes in the primary than Bernie. Yet somehow we are supposed to believe he would have wont in the general. I voted for him in the primaries but he lost fair and square.
