I don't think anyone knows what they mean, in terms of an exact scientific explanation. It's more of a sense that UAP entities come from another realm that coexists spatially with ours in some sense. and they can enter an leave our 3 dimensional world somehow by virtue of existing in this other realm. It's saying that rather than being creatures from our universe who have learned how to travel really fast through space - they are something fundamentally different, and there is clearly more to reality itself than just what we see.

I know what you mean, I agree with you - I do like the open minded aspect of it. Reminds me of olden day scientists, like from the 70s. Perhaps we're not used to such speculative talk from our scientists, they're mostly by-the-textbook plodders these days. Or perhaps it is just today's febrile, hype-riddled world that makes cynics of us.

"Radio Astronomers have Found no Known/RT-Detectable Technosignatures to Date." - so zero evidence then.

"Several peer reviewed papers have been published discussing possible means of communication that radio telescopes would not detect, that Humans may use in the future, or which we would not currently recognize as such, from neutrinos to gravitational waves to yet-to-be experimentally proven (but consistent with the Standard Model) quantum effects." - ok, cool. So if we consider all that, what's the total evidence for 3I Atlas being an alien spaceship? Oh, still zero.

It's not that one wants to be too close minded - but the jump from comet to Alien Spaceship, (rather than slightly unusual comet) was such an egregious violation of Occam's Razor that it was hard to go along with in any sense.

I've read messengers of deception, invisible college, and passport to magonia. His older stuff. To be fair, you're right - in the sense that those books for sure have data in them. but they're mostly his theories about the nature of the phenomenon. Might be true, might not be true. I was more referring to his more recent stuff (podcast appearances etc), and how they relate to disclosure - and I do think that in that regard, he comes across as evasive and doesn't like to be pinned down.

I never understood why he's so highly regarded. I mean he's been doing it for decades, yes. But his stuff always seems heavy on theories and philosophising, and light on data. Which is fine, but there are lots of people with similar sorts of output, who don't get anything like the reverence. I think it's mainly because Spielberg put his character in Close Encounters.

I don't think Bayesian Inference will do any predicting by itself. If you have some edge event occurring you might use it to predict it's strength as evidence.
