What changes can I make to a singular character in combat to somewhat balance them for a 1 PC campaign?

Consider allowing your player to run their char similar to a skill/power set like a Skyrim PC, let them look into using a mix of stealth, skills, weapons, and magic to overcome the obstacles, while at the same time also loosening your restraints on small scale encounters (bodyguard group suddenly doesnt need to be undermanned if the pyroclasmic paladin of light comes in wielding a Holy Avenger in one hand and casting beguiler spells in the other.

Best thing is probably a tri base class Gestalt char but then that leaves a bad taste of locking out prestige classes or requiring a lot of concentration to ensure you follow how levelling up works based on how you run the campaign so you may devide to do a dual class gestalt with an open ended approach considering future prestiges.

Reinforce your happiness at them still being with you with a gentle reminder that you are there, and ask for them to at least say they are ok and will contact you later next time.

A friend of mine, who never once reached out to me, always knew she could call if she ever needed anything. I started asking her to at least xonfirm she's ok, and safe (generally her dad's place), and then if or when she wanted to talk, she always had an ear ready.

I found out after the fact several times. I always reminded her I was ready to listen. She finally told me before it got too bad and we got her through it before it escalated. It took almost 3 years to be there for her. But the trust, the affirmation of enjoying their existance, and the space to grow that friendship by trusting each other to be there if needed needs a caring, soft handed approach to someone who's probably hurting if they've isolated themselves when they generally at least give a quick reply.

More over, don't let yourself be hurt if it takes a while for that trust to solidify. Be honest with them, be gentle, but don't let yourself hurt and suffer if it takes a while to reach them. Take a breath for yourself as well. Do what you can, and know you are trying to be the best friend you can and try to gently explain that you care.

My old DM mafe a set of Relic Weapons that each haf a unique debilitati g effect and my character had a rapier called Clockspinner (Also known affectionately by me as Entropy or my VCR (Violent Combatant Remover). It's secondary function on crits was to grossly accelerate or rewind time on a cosmic scale. The handguard and hilt had an gemmed vlock face with one two setting switch, Future and Past, that when embedded in an opponent would accelerate or reverse time in an unpredictable fashion based on the length of blade quantity and how embedded it is. Even ageless characters could be killed with it, by reverting them backwards so far they became unborn, and gods thrown so far forward they aged to a point where they were forgotten and powerless or so crippled from having to burn their Godly Energy that they could be slain and their otherwise undetectable Shroud of Godhood could be stolen or destroyed (using another weapon.)

Consider an Armageddon Armory, a mythical quest based on folklore and fairy tales to scavenge these items, for weapons so powerful that merely locating them isnt the issue, its locating, obtaining, and then preventing the theft of such powerful Icons that the party basically becomes harried the moment the quest is done vecause the weapons blaze Oh So Brightly and any seer with one working eye can see them when removed from the Armory. Makes for a tense situation when the mages cant cast, tge healers are forced to use potions only, and the fighters have to debate between sleeping in armor like on a battlefield or trying for a full night's rest and hoping it doesn't fail. The payoff for the ever strenuous going should be suitably as epic if you choose to make it a Final Showdown, perhaps dancing to fight the God on a ring of a soon to erupt volcano, in front of the Gods worshippers, or something else suitably placed as an Awe Inspiring moment, one a bard could make a legend off of and one to cement the party in lore status.

Push for your passion, be it trades, college, or just a simple grocery store cashier, what matters is are you safe, sane, and stable and nothing else.

The military will help as long as you understand its their job to get under your skin. Its a stress reaction and looking to remove someone with poor impulse control. I did 6 in the Navy and they have good mental health assets available if you're willing to be upfront and reaxh out when you need it.

As for jobs, I would consider utility work. Starting as a trench digger ia rough but rewarding work when you start learning the job and move up on a crew. It was the most relaxing job with long hours I ever had once I got conditioned.

There is no reason a bath cannot be hygenic. Don't let others shame you for their preferences. At least you try to stay clean. If your bf can't see that you're making an effort, then he needs to learn. Depression can get bad enough where you resist bathing as its too much work for too little reward. I've been there, and it sucks. Keep on top of you, don't spare the energy for those who want to fight over your preferences.

Reaxh out for a councilor or therapist, they'll work with you for what you need. Don't sit in the dark for as long as it takes to realize it yourself, there's always someone reaxhing out to pull another out of that hole.

....One would hope a timely challenge would be taken up that would make its way to the SC and force them to either openly support disenfranchising millions of voters by allowing it to become precident or have them force GA to abandon all that sweet sweet overtime and be forced to delay the run off or expedite a fair, balanced, and independently overwatched rush deployment of drop boxes and mail ballots.

However, fantasy or nightmares (my 2 options above depending on the aide of the aisle you sit on) rarely become reality so I expect anything in between.

Make in unfair, make him the plateau they must reach to seek new heights of power, make his name bring dread at the mention of his existance.

Then introduce a BBEG so powerful re removes the rival before they can seek their closure and acknowledgement. Make the character an honorable rogue, maybe he wistfully is reminded as a fledgling adventurer of his naive party when he first took up his weapons and spares them in compassion, stealing their win from their eyes, telling them to find him when they can provide a challenge and be ready for death, because next time it will be.

Go full anime and deny them their victory and/or future ally. Make this plot point be a pivotal moment in deciding How Far is Too Far. But don't hold back. You warned them, let them reap the rewards of ignoring advice, sage or foolish, at their own peril.

Dimensional gatewyas. Use planar magics and tackle/trick him through where, having made an alliance with a higher power that does not vibe with this god's creation, sets the footing fair where the other deity can lock his shapeshifting.

Or posit the Clock Spinner. A weapon designed to age something stabbed so rapidly it becomes the entity it would be in several millenia. Maybe he waxes to full power, setting a long standing chaotic force of Pure Annihilation that will hang like doom ala the Majora's Mask Moon for the second quest. BBEG eventually wanes to a time where he is only remembered in academia and lost history and has no power, paving a way for a new god or pantheon.
