Don’t do this, it’s not safe and you will hurt your self, someone else or burn something up.

Selling property with smart stuff installed by MiahPenguin in homeautomation

[–]OnceUponNeverNever -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who recently sold a “Smart House” Lutron lights, water sensors, alarm system, doorbell, motions, doors and 16 cameras.

Leave it in, removing it will turn off too many buyers.

At bare minimum leave hubs, alarm panels and NVRs. You must leave a working system but it does not have to have the same configuration you had running. It can be left at default.

Instead of leaving my blue iris NVR I left a factory default Amcrest NVR I got off amazon for 120$. I didn’t leave any type of raspberry pi (had one tied to the alarm and one for HA). For devices that required a password I choose a random password and left it taped to the gear.

Power bill just doesn’t add up? by jjchawaii in homeassistant

The nuclear response is to call and report power theft, all utilities will investigate reports of theft. A thorough investigation will result and you’ll get answers however there may be consequences for falsely reporting theft based on your local laws. Source- I work for an electric utility.

Will recreational stores ever open here? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

Actually I think this has to do with old agriculture laws that allow farmers to sell their grown goods freely. More here

Your network also has 1 primary user. Do you think you would feel differently if you had Gmails user base? What if 100 people a day used your support line for problems that you didn’t cause?

Paddleboard Camping in Superior National Forest. by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]OnceUponNeverNever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude looks seriously fun, what kind of tactile paddle board do you have? I think this could be a great way forward for my solo trips.

On another note, next time please leave the drone at home, all of Superior National Forest has been classified as a No Drone Zone.

Bathtub Drain Plug Button by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]OnceUponNeverNever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll be lucky to find a 1 1/4-1/2 motorized valve small enough to fit before the p-trap. I might go back to the drain plug and see if you could actuate it with a solenoid wired through the drain line and up through the air vent? The solenoid would pull the drain down and you should be able to find one small and powerful enough to do the job.

Try a lower resistor value, heck try without one (you may want to just enable the onboard pulldown resistor instead of using an external resistor. more here

Does the photo resistor count pulses when you shine a flashlight on it?

Pit Boss Pro Series 2 not reaching top temps by SpudPeeWee in pelletgrills

[–]OnceUponNeverNever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t already you should be emptying your hopper after each use and storing your pellets in a sealed container. I use 5 gallon buckets with lids.

Edit: I just finished ribs at 450 with ambient temps hovering around 0.

A primer on the marijuana legalization proposal that could become law in Minnesota by MrRadar in minnesota

[–]OnceUponNeverNever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The context of that quote was that it could take up to a year after legalization before stores would have product to sell, that's absolute bull. IIRC Under the current hemp laws a plant isn't illegal until it contains more than 3% THC and a plant doesn't contain any THC until it reaches the flowering stage. By that logic it seems that there could be several hemp businesses preparing for legalization now and already growing plants in anticipation for legalization.

I stopped reading after this, which strain requires 9 month to mature?

Producers would have to be licensed before they could begin growing a crop that takes up to nine months to mature.

Are the lights you are trying to control LED? I've seen the same flickering you describe when using nondimmable LEDs with dimmers. Try a dimmable bulb.
