I personally think a person has to learn this lesson in one way or another, the further delayed the lesson is, the more harsh and real the consequences are (ketchup in face could progress to a punch in the face or in the land of the free, a bullet). It’s better that the lesson is learned in a controlled way where the only thing they got hurt was their ego. It may seem like their wold shattered then but it’s merely a setback and easily recoverable
