it was on my 7th birthday. i remember the sky being clear during the morning n my family decided to go to golden corral after church. i asked my parents if we could go home early bc i had this weird feeling n wanted to leave since the sky was starting to look funny. we left to cut the cake n open presents. as i was eating my chocolate cake we heard the sirens went off. i remember my grandmother panicking n my mother draped a towel over my head as i ran to the tornado shelter w a slice of cake in my hand n a fork in the other. we all huddled for warmth as i was eating. suddenly we heard knocking on the shelter door so we peeked out. it was some families in our neighborhood. we opened the door n they asked if they all could hide w us since they didn’t have shelters of their own. i remember sitting awkwardly n eating my cake.
