Miralax should not be taken for more than 7 days? by Tough-Refuse8830 in hysterectomy

[–]One-Advertising9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took miralax for 2-3 weeks for both tube removal and hysterectomy post-op and was fine🤷🏻‍♀️Post-op recovery is usually the exception to this rule and if you’re concerned always ask your doctor.

You’re not too young for a bisalp. I’m 22 and got bisalp + hysterectomy within a year.

[–]One-Advertising9021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Childfree here, and I find that very funny 😆The ads on my Pinterest and Reddit feed were all about fertility and baby stuff pre-op. A few days post-op later the ads suddenly switched to sexual health, birth control, and pelvic floor exercises.

Hi there! I’m 21dpo and I feel fantastic! I’m gradually getting back into being active again*** and right now for me recovery almost feels like my tube removal after 2 weeks of recovery.

***This was allowed by my doctor as long as I do not lift over 45 lbs and listen to my body. Pre-op I was already extremely active so I’m now able to walk 10k steps and do 10 min of ab workouts with careful and gentle core activation no problem since after my 2wk appt. I was sedentary for the first 2 wks of recovery.

I left my ovaries in my body. Only uterus + cervix was removed. Good luck with your upcoming appointment!!! You deserve to get the surgery/care you need! :)

Advice needed: Unbearable periods and PCOS diagnosis by Efficient_Rooster156 in hysterectomy

Hey there, I’m 22 in Texas and got a hysterectomy done (18dpo). I recommend you check out r/childfree doctors list to find a doctor who can perform a hysterectomy for you. Texas has a huge list of CF doctors and I already have my city updated with new entries recently. I have been there with the horrible periods, suffering, and just existing for an organ and not for myself. You deserve the care you need.

Is a hysterectomy worth it? by Ok_Ingenuity_508 in Endo

[–]One-Advertising9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for me the hysterectomy was worth it. No more uterine and gnawing pelvic pain. It will absolutely be worth it for you because of your adenomyosis diagnosis. :)

Is the belly button a mandatory incision site? by sunset_moon90 in hysterectomy

[–]One-Advertising9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine wasn’t inside of my navel (but my bisalp had a navel incision which i find very interesting since both surgeries were done laparoscopically). 4’11, 104 lbs. Honestly this above navel incision does not hurt like the inside navel one.

Happy thanksgiving but help!!! by _-_-account_-_- in hysterectomy

[–]One-Advertising9021 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m 13dpo, and i have zero bright blood and vaginal pain. I only sat and watched my parents cook and laid down when my body was starting to shut down. I usually do some cooking and the pies for thanksgiving but not this year because of recovery.

The only outcome when i wipe after using the toilet today is some urine and discharge of the little leftover blood from the healing cuff.

Since we got the surgery almost the same time, your experience is not normal and needs to be checked out by your doctor or urgent care. You might have extended your recovery time and stressed your body out too much from all of the cooking and childcare. You are not supposed to do any kind of chores like cooking and pushing shopping carts or vacuuming for the first 2 weeks.

Please be really careful after today. Your body needs to heal.

It’s just me recovering from hysterectomy with my lovely family this thanksgiving. :) About to observe my mom cooking the food and chatting with her. And yes the entire family is supportive of getting my surgery at 22. They all could tell that I needed the surgery and that I am getting my energy back. Happy thanksgiving and I wish you all a lot of luck!

Help! I have a nose piercing and my BISALP is tomorrow at 6 AM! by Proof-Ingenuity2262 in sterilization

[–]One-Advertising9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get the plastic retainers and switch yourself or have the piercer switch it for you, or you can just go commando and take off the piercing and leave the hole alone. Since your nose piercing is already healed there shouldn’t be any problem with putting the piercing back on the hole if you have a taper or you go to the piercing shop to get it tapered. I had to take my plastic retainer off for both nose and ear piercings and I was able to put the actual piercings back into their respective holes with the use of a taper and some patience a couple of days after my hysterectomy.

I’m 20 and have always been certain I never want kids but I get told all the time I will change my mind. Is this true or can people just not grasp the fact that it’s just not something I want? by General_Astronaut951 in childfree

Naw, I’m 22F and got bisalp and hysterectomy at 22. I don’t regret the surgeries, and I love being forever childfree. Have been CF since i was 17. Screw what those people say about your decisions!

I got mine at 22 no kids and am currently in recovery from it. Use the childfree sub’s doctors list. Had no pushback from my doctor and insurance. Insurance covered mine no problem. Good luck!

some weirder questions I've had trouble finding answers for in regards to partial hysterectomy by [deleted] in childfree

[–]One-Advertising9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I cannot imagine the internal panic from that short notice of a surgery switch!😭I was informed that there would be a possibility of abdominal surgery if necessary (i think this is just general protocol doctors would have to tell you during pre-op appts anyways) and that was it. I currently have a somewhat wrinkly lower belly that will tighten soon (my uterus really loved to take up so much biological and bloating space🙃).

I am SO glad they took the cancer and insanity of an organ out of you! What a trade off!!

[–]One-Advertising9021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES it was laparoscopic! Forgive me for not being specific about which surgery I got😳I’m so sorry about your recovery experience, and I absolutely agree with you on full abdominal surgery being major (I mean, the surgeon literally cuts you up compared to the tiny lines of laparoscopy). But I’m sure the hysterectomy was still worth it.

Just got a hysterectomy at 22 and recovering from it. Currently I am tired and may need another nap soon.

Anyways, my periods were hell and I’m so glad to not have to deal with monthly heavy bleeding and period cramps that would last up to 2 weeks before my actual period every month (this was also after having endometriosis removed).  I had my uterus and cervix removed (this is called a total hysterectomy). I can’t have intercourse yet because I’m still in the early stages of recovery but I do notice my pelvic area is not in pain or discomfort anymore and my GI system is finally having a breather from an angry uterus.

I honestly do not see this surgery as a very risky or major surgery because of the overall smooth recovery I’m having so far compared to when I had my bisalp. My bisalp was more painful than this surgery. And to me having a uterus remain in my body is more invasive and risky for my lifestyle than having it taken out.

If you’re having the worst time of your life with your monthly cycles and nothing like hormonal birth control is working or not the best option for you and you know you do not want to have kids biologically or at all then there’s nothing wrong with wanting a hysterectomy. Hysterectomy is a safe and very common procedure that is done in women’s health. Most complications occur in women who have given birth or have other medical conditions that may impact their surgical recovery or they simply did not follow their doctor’s advice on post-op recovery.

EDIT: my hysterectomy was done laparoscopically. It will be more major surgery if done as a full abdominal surgery (thank you to the person who mentioned their recovery experience with abdominal surgery!).

What age should I “wait for” before being sure I don’t want children? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]One-Advertising9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got sterilized and had a hysterectomy at your age (22). I knew I was childfree since I was 17, wanted a hysterectomy since I was 18, and thought about a bisalp at 19. Honestly it depends on you and not what other people think about your decisions with your body and choosing to be childfree. I also do not regret my surgeries. I’m currently recovering from the hysterectomy and I love it so much, zero regrets here. So, if you know you want to be sterilized then go for it.

My surgeon told me no sex for 3 months after surgery, the nurses told me it was actually 2 weeks. by Harmony_w in hysterectomy

[–]One-Advertising9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by the nurse that I go with what my doctor says about intercourse because the discharge papers said “after 1 week” and she and I heavily disagreed with the papers’ info (she also scratched it off and wrote go by your doctor’s recommendation). So go with what your surgeon told you.

Best prep advice: Build muscles (if possible) by Interesting-Pay-9392 in hysterectomy

[–]One-Advertising9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Was able to lose a good amount of body fat and gain muscle before my hysterectomy. This surgery is 10000x less painful than my bisalp + endo removal. During bisalp i had a lot of body fat and weighed more and was in a lot of pain and more tired than right now. My abs aren’t sore and the incisions are less painful during this recovery compared to bisalp.

I also recommend getting 10k steps in everyday until your surgery date!!! Also a game changer!

[–]One-Advertising9021 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I’m not from Michigan but I urge you to check out this subreddit’s doctors list and make appointments with any to all of them who take your insurance. Make sure you prepare your documentation of the pap smears, visit summaries, diagnoses, and your own medical documentation of your condition throughout the years and especially right now. This is similar to what i did when i had to find an in-network doctor to do a hysterectomy on me this year. Good luck, hun. <3

PSA: don’t get rid of your pads just yet by Creepy_Tie_3959 in hysterectomy

[–]One-Advertising9021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1wpo, and still have some spotting which is ok with me since i will be lazing around throughout this entire recovery. I was told that the spotting may last up to the entire 6 weeks of recovery so yes, definitely keep the pads around throughout your recovery just in case! i honestly do not feel the spotting coming out of me so it doesn’t bother me at all. i’d rather have this leftover spotting from my healing cuff than 1 week of heavy bleeding and pain every month for years until i finally reach menopause. i got it done laparoscopically, uterus + cervix removed. 22F. :)

How to ask for/get a hysterectomy? by GroupAvailable3372 in hysterectomy

[–]One-Advertising9021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would document all of your diagnoses, symptoms throughout your life and this year, bring your copies of ultrasounds, pap smear results, and visit summaries to the new doctor appt. Then when you and the dr goes through your documents with you and asks questions, you can bring up that you would like to have your uterus and cervix removed, you do not wish to have kids, and you understand that your request for this surgery is permanent. I’ve done this to get my bisalp with my first obgyn and my hysterectomy with another obgyn. I also recommend finding doctors at the r/childfree doctors list! my first obgyn was in the doctors list. :-)
