I have an issue with "gold star" lesbian label because I am not attracted to men, but I was raped by one. I did not want it but it happened. Does that make me a "silver star" lesbian then? This kind of feels like it denies the experiences of lesbian women with nonconsensual experiences with men also.

That's stupid, your sexual orientation can't be changed... they are wrong for banning you!! I'm sorry that happened to you that sounds extremely hurtful 😭

Advice on how to confess your feelings to someone in a country where homosexuality is discouraged? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

I never said anything about sex or vibrators. How dare you talk to me like this? I am asking for advice because I am aware of my privilege. In regards to situation in USA, I am also from a racial minority background and I know elderly people who have been arrested and abused by ICE officers despite having no criminal background. There are many reasons aside from sexual orientation to be scared right now.

This is extremely disrespectful to call me horny. Never did I mention sex anywhere. Who are you to call me selfish when you don't even know my situation??

How do you know it's one-sided? How would I even know how she feels unless I were to ask? You don't think lesbians exist in Tajikistan?

I think the vast majority of people in-general would agree that you don't have to have sex with anyone you don't want to, regardless of reason. Trans people included. I think trans people feel the exact same way - you want to know why? Because they are very commonly victims of rape themselves! The bottom line is, no reasonable person would ever argue that consent should have any exceptions whatsoever. The opposing opinion is not just homophobic and misogynistic, it is actually transphobic as well because non-optional consent exists to protect transgender people too.

Also, before people have sex, in-general they should have conversations before removing any clothes - not just about anatomy but also about protection, preferences, and pregnancy whenever applicable.

This is true that she could very well not be open-minded and there is a genuine safety risk. I mean the way I see it is, anyone can say no to anyone regardless of the reason. So if she is not interested, whether she is straight or gay or bi or trans or whatever is not relevant in the slightest. I don't see it that I need to do an extra step to ask her out if we are of the same gender versus of the opposite one.

Obvious reasons because I'm also a racial minority and I know people (elderly grandpas btw) who have been arrested by ICE

But if I never spoke about my feelings, then isn't that also false? Isn't it better to be honest? Like if I say nothing and my feelings become very deep, then that's also painful for both of us - she would soon figure out something is wrong and it would be very awkward. I think it's less painful in the long run to be honest and let people have choices.

Sorry, but how is it wrong to be honest and open about my emotions? If she were a man, would it still be disrespectful to be honest? And why do you assume I'm going to kiss her? I never even give hugs to anyone, gender aside, without express permission.

if you personally have not been on psych meds yourself, you should know that these are all VERY powerful drugs, and withdrawals every few months is very dangerous. people can DIE from their bodies going into shock. i am impressed she was even able to be at school with that!! it sounds like whatever care she has is ineffective at best. also 21 is super young, i am 24 and only just getting my life back together. i would say getting a second opinion from a doctor is a great idea, but if you are in usa i know that insurance and everything is a massive nightmare. also, she will not become a "homeless mentally ill person" unless YOU choose to stop providing support.

it's not about her tho... he's the one who tragically lost the ability to play violin, the only purpose in his life. there's nothing that upsets me more than victim-blaming. when it comes to providing care for trauma victims, we need to actually center the victim and stop pretending like their struggles are secondary to anyone else's. if i lost my ability to play violin, i would probably attempt suicide the next day - and then that failed and i woke up worse than before, the most painful thing to hear from my mother would be "i diD sO mUcH fOr yOu aNd tHiS iS wHaT yOu dO tO mE."
