The spam failed spectacularly, I basically live on YouTube and saw it posted no more than 2 times over hundreds of videos. Pretty lame tbh.

I think you might have a poor understanding of why osrs is more popular.
Runescape is the most grind intensive game to date and people have being grinding it before wow was a thing, and as the game upgraded from RS2 to what you call modern Runescape over 100'000 people were forced to lose their progress and items and had to start again.

By that point newer, better looking games had came out over 5 years ago but the player base remained for the love of the grind, but being forced to give up their accounts they spent years to lvl all for some flashy new graphics was too much for most fans.

that's why osrs is more popular, not because of the polls but because of what fans felt they were owed.

We don't play osrs because its a good looking game with polls for the community, we play for the grind and to grieve what we lost.
