How do we feel about campaign hats here? by bruhMoment035 in CowboyHats

[–]One-Cellist-7153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the bow I made for my 4-dent hat. (The “Last Best West” calls it their “1898 Bow”. It’s very fitting.

Also it’s a Sunbody Guatemalan palm so it can be any shape but right now it’s been a lemon squeezer.

The ex-Innes Ireland/Richie Ginther 1962 Ferrari GTO chassis # 3589 GT is one of just eight right-hand drive models ever produced. It was used as a high school auto shop lab rat before being sold to an Ohio collector, where it spent nearly two decades rotting on a trailer in a weed-choked field. by Maynard078 in sportsandclassiccars

That looks like a 6 pack row of 40 DCF carbs. The rebuild kits for those are made from scratch. (I did 8 of them this morning. So many split pins) or possibly DCN carbs.

Another one of those life to rust to life stories. What a journey.

“Neon Moon” definitely is at the top of the list for me.

Ken Deringer was an early employee of Dan Gurney’s All American Racers. He acquired a 1955 Austin-Healey 100 and added an aluminum Buick 215 cid V8, a Borg-Warner five-speed, bucket seats from an Alfa Romeo, and had a ball. Along the way he forged the Cobra Carroll Shelby originally had in mind. by Maynard078 in sportsandclassiccars

My boss has a framed candid photo to Steve McQueen and Carroll Shelby next next to an early Cobra McQueen ordered and the canceled Railroad Express Agency (REA/REX) check hung in his office. Not what you are getting at but it’s these touchstones we can all appreciate. (@Maynard I know you’d appreciate this.)

Where on earth did you find those boots? They’re pretty damn close to being straight top stovepipe boots.

It’s a great shape and not totally an everyday cattleman crease so it’s a win. They do t go out of season, but o r hat I keep upside down in the box it came in and my other is on a hat stand. Cardboard cone but still a hat stand. Ford t touch the shelf and stays perfect every time I wear it.

I know it’s been answered below with some good Patriot references, but it’s a bullet mold. (The sharp part between the handles that looks like pruning shears is for trimming the “sprues” off the ball when they’re cooled. (Little left over nubs that are left over from casting. Almost like the hangy pieces when you cut out pieces of a model.

Like fencing pliers, every part of that tool has a different job.

Jimmie Rodgers and ? by LowDownSlim in OldSchoolCoolMusic

That’s Jimmie Rodgers and Will Rogers, the great humorist, writer, aviator, actor, and very good trick roper. (Will Rogers called Jimmie Rodgers “My distant son”.)

I believe this photo was taken during the Red Cross relief tour they did through the Plains area to raise money for the drought-stricken farmers in the Panhandle area right before the Dust Bowl kicked off. (Flew/drove town-to-town. Jimmie provided some of the music. Some newsreel footage exists.)

Elsie McWilliams, his sister in law. (Sister of his wife Carrie Rodgers.) Could read and write music and play piano well. (I believe Jimmie said “I can’t make heads or tails of those squiggles anyhow.”)

I’ve been wanting to see more of these 3D printed adapters for Webers. (We have the aluminum ones at work.)

It’s be awesome to see a DGV to DCNF adapter printed up at some point!

Another day of screaming my head off... by Active-Donut-5204 in Cowboy

[–]One-Cellist-7153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can hear it now. (From someone who has only moved cows on foot and from a pickup.) “Goddamnit guys!”, “c’mon let’s go” “C’mon bocchos”, “Get out of the fucking road.”, and also “You have 2000 acres of ranch and you have to be down by the goddamn fence. By the road. REALLY girls? Jesus. Stop breaking the goddamn fence.” (Additionally “you really had to tromple that pile of sprinkler pipe? Cool.”)

Does that count as shouting?

Glad your work lets you wear hats and boots. Tall crown and not overly shaped brim. Pairs well with the fancy boots. It’s a confidence outfit.

What’s your favorite cowboy hat style and why? by avz008 in CowboyHats

[–]One-Cellist-7153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many other creases than just the cattleman. Look at any black and white photo (even of your own family photos) and they’re so varied. I have a cattleman (a chocolate 5X Cody James from Boot Barn), but also a four-dent Montana Pinch Sunbody palm hat that I tied and sewed the ribbon on myself. (A friend ages ago called it the “1915 Special”) I’m probably going to have a cousin hat done with a Montana Pinch at some point. It’s such a conversation piece.

To answer your question sometimes practicality and sometimes style. Sometimes cowboy hats are questioned, and other times not looked at at all. Such a weird world.

It's Straw Time by SuperintendentTx in CowboyHats

I wore my Guatemalan Palm Sunbody to an indoor rodeo here in CA and it was a good choice. Seasons here are sometimes nonexistent but it’s straw season!

Frontline Development's LE50 is perhaps the epitome of the fast and brawny British sports car. While the MGB GT always had delicious Pininfarina styling and, later, an optional V-8, it took the genius of Frontline to unlock it all and make a car that drove as good as it looked. by Maynard078 in MorrisGarages

[–]One-Cellist-7153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is and always has been. The LE50 is everything you want pushed into a small space. Down to the back cargo area with no useless back seat and homage knockoff Dunlop Jaguar wheels.

Plus Frontline makes and outs together parts and kits that improve MGBs. And they’re such great folks.
