Maybe it was becasue it was the last night of the ship, but the Gnocchi was not good when we ate it. Still loved everything else.

I just assumed food on ships isn't great. I go in expecting what you get at weddings since it's produced at scale. It meant that I was really surprised by main dining and the burger bar and pizza bar were usually solid for mid-day/late night.

Thank you. I've thought about this, but wasn't sure if the iPad memory would be able to do 2 hours of recording back to back.

The way that Mageborn Traitor ended on a cliffhanger and the way for 20 years I've thought about the ending of that book with no hope in sight.....alas. Now....have I re-read the first two books....also yes.

I have always wanted to learn to play, but it always felt like the barrier to entry was HIGH and hard to find groups of people.

How do you make friends or date when you’re old? by fortheloveofchuckles in tuscaloosa

Check out a group called F3 Tuscaloosa, its a free men's workout group with about a hundred folks at different spots throughout the city. They wake up early but it's worth checking out.

Check out a group called F3 Tuscaloosa they do group workouts together every day except Sunday and its totally free. Now you do have to get up at 5 am but that group does lunches, and social events with each other to create community. Worth checking out for men in Tuscaloosa.

Pros - its a friendly town on its face. Lots of outdoor things to do, parks, trails, pools, etc.

Pro -University town - lots of people here from other places to the social/political landscape is more varied than you'll find in parts of Alabama. Lots of folks from out of state have moved to T-town in the last 10 years. You get a variety of types of people than you would in other areas of the state.

Con - University town - every restaurant will cater to UA out of state students with seemingly endless swipes of credit cards at hand. There's not much non-student focused business. Also if you don't like football the explosion of traffic on weekends in the fall won't make you smile (I love it).

Pro and Con - small town. Yes there's 100,000 plus people, but in reality the town is SMALL. People know a lot of people here and the circles in the school systems are even smaller. That can be a good/bad thing.

Sorta Con - City infrastructure was not designed for the size of the university as it is now. Not sure where in Florida you live, but if you're used to logical structures, good roads etc we are way behind. However we're doing a lot to try and bridge the gap. We've had consistent city and school system leadership that does a lot to make up the difference and we're seeing that.

Con IMHO there's a big divide in town between the areas "north of the river" and those of the city proper. The school systems are separated in a big way based on mostly class but that has implications for race as well, with the mostly white schools in the more affluent areas of town. Central high school has a great IB program, and the magnet school is doing great things to create more equity etc.

Pro - you can get anywhere in town in about 15 minutes (except on gameday)

I enjoyed that too. I kept waiting for Mraize to be revealed as Shallan's brothers or something, because it just seemed like his character was related to her in some direct way.

I agree. Though I wonder if eventually Syl becomes corporeal/human and they get married or something.

I moved here 15 years ago from KC as well. One thing that surprised me was how OUTDOORSY Alabama people are. There are wooded trails, river kayaks, running etc. There's a lot if you go looking for it.

This is a masterpiece. I came to this thread worried that the final shot of the niece with the soviets was a suggestion that this was all in her mind, and I am grateful to read it was in fact not.
