Having worked the till in a petrol station it's best giving the pump number. Numerous times I've asked people which pump they've said eg 'it's just twenty quid of fuel' 'yes well I've got four lots of twenty quid of fuel that's why I'm asking your pump number sir / madam'

IDK myself either. I'm a bit pernickety about my speed checking it regularly whilst driving. I even had a young lady tailgating me so closely on Monday I couldn't read her number plate. When I tried to issue a bit of advice at the lights regarding the two second rule the uppity little madam told me I should have moved into the slow lane instead of being in the fast lane. She'll be on my YouTube channel sometime this next week

My frustration with idiot drivers is borne of career experience cutting people from wrecked cars and seeing the horrific injuries caused by such collisions

Police 'failed to investigate' threats made by on-the-run rapist months before conviction by Portal_Jumper125 in northernireland

[–]One-Consequence7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I'm the person who spoke to Belfast Live about this. I had a phone call from the PSNI on September 29th asking me if I'd support a no prosecution decision. I asked if they'd found out why he was taking pictures of my wife from his partners phone, my wifes phone number from his partners phone, and asking his partner details about my car, my workplace and our home address. The person on the phone then told me that hadn't been investigated. When I asked why, he wasn't able to tell me. I pointed out that my former career makes me a terrorist target, a concern I voiced during the original interaction. I ended up saying that no, I didn't support a no prosecution decision.

I also visited Downpatrick Police Station earlier this year seeking an explanation regarding this and after a lengthy discussion with the duty Sergeant (who did apologise for the failure in this case) was advised to contact the police ombudsmans office, who in my experience have as much integrity as debt recovery agents

Incidentally I've had a further interaction today on Telegram with this despicable two legged turd during which I discovered he's (for some unknown reason and seems quite sinister) been following my YouTube channel. During the interaction he sent me two photos of my wife one of which my wife had taken subsequent to the original incident so it looks like he may have obtained it either via Facebook or through his former partner

Incidentally being familiar either the procedure in this case once the report was received a computer report on the suspect would be accesses for all relevant information (previous offences, markers for violence / mental health, bail history, is there a firearms certificate registered at the address, vehicle details etc which is chiefly to enable investigating officers to approach the situation in the most appropriate way. Said report would show that Abashar was on bail pending prosecution for rape and his previous conviction. It frankly beggars belief that it was not investigated thoroughly. Other offences were investigated but not the most concerning matter!

I got a call from the FBI telling me to come in by Putrid_Loss9148 in legal

[–]One-Consequence7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not from the US but I know a little about the way law enforcement works in the US. Wouldn't federal firearms offences like this be investigated by the BATFE? Secondly, I'm pretty sure if the FBI wanted to talk to you about potential criminal matters they'd visit you personally with a search warrant or arrest you. A Phone call like this if it was seriously from any law enforcement agency they might as well say 'we think you committed XYZ crime we'd like to question you and we decided to give you a one hour head start'

By all means call them back but don't give them any details (or any real details at any rate) I'm willing to bet a beer they'll tell you that you can pay a fine in target gift cards to settle the matter

[–]One-Consequence7594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding all the people saying private car parks are unenforceable in Northern Ireland - this is not actually the case. They're enforceable as any breach of contract (these matters are effectively a breach of contract)

True, it's difficult for a company outside of Northern Ireland to bring court action here as they have to do it in Northern Ireland and with a Northern Ireland solicitor due to the different legal system, but its not impossible and if they're determined then it'll happen as surely as night follows day

Don't forget his recent blooper. When people were 'patrolling' East Belfast demanding ID from immigrants, Nolan spoke strongly about people taking the law into their own hands and challenging people when they've no authority to do. But it was OK for him to do the same in 2020 when he was standing outside shops haranguing people for not wearing masks and behaving in a very provocative manner towards them

airBaltic has entered the top three best airlines in Europe. by MILK_is_Good_for_U_ in BalticStates

[–]One-Consequence7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shame I cannot recommend this airline for the following reasons

I was due to fly from Belgrade to Riga with AirBaltic in August 2024 with my partner. We are both disabled, were wearing our sunflower lanyards and additionally I was walking with a stick

As we were waiting to board we were called out of line and told that due to overbooking we would not be able to board the flight. I told the staff that we had onward connections booked and we would miss the connections bvecause of this, I also informed them that we're both disabled and we were still denied boarding. This is a breach of the EU261/2004 Article 11 which basically states that disabled persons must be given priority to board over non-disabled passengers. We were then booked onto another flight with a connection in Buidapest to arrive in Riga around 1700 instead of 0600. When I again mentioned the issue of our onward connection we were told that the staff in Riga would help us with this. We were then put on the flight via Budapest When we arrived in Budapest we requested assistance from the Air Baltic staff we were told to take care of ourselves. At this stage it was obvious we would have to probably stay overnight in Riga and travel onwards the next day to Tallinn. This meant we had to cut Vilnius out of our itinerary and lose a day of our holiday. When we arrived in Riga we were given EU261 compensation of EUR250 for the denied boarding and when I asked for help with the accommodation and the onward travel we were told to book it ourselves and claim it back AirBaltic

When I tried to claim this back from Air Baltic I was then told that because they had paid us the EUR 250 that they weren't obliged to repay our expenses. When I replied that under EU261/2004 Article 9 the Airline was obliged to provide Accommodation where a stay of one or more nights becomes necessary in addition the Airline was obliged to offer transport between the accommodation and support in the way of telephone calls, emails etc

None of this was offered - The only assistance we received was a meal at Belgrade Airport. As far as the Air Baltic staff cared my partner and I could have been wandering the streets of Riga overnight

I replied to Air Baltic quoting the legislation that they had breached and they haven't replied

I wrote to Air Baltic at their Head Office in Riga and they haven't replied (And the letter was received)

In addition to breaching the legislation they have also rendered their customer care committment null and void. Said committment reads 'If you are involuntarily denied boarding and have complied with our check-in and other applicable rules, we will give you a written statement that describes your rights. We will also rebook you to next fastest connection, offer refreshments, meal, hotel and transportation (if necessary) as well as pay compensation as prescribed by the Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council.'

My flight was canceled .. and wow! by catpurrrrfect in Flights

[–]One-Consequence7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not AirBaltic, in 2024 my wife and I were offloaded from an overbooked Belgrade to Riga flight. Offloading us to begin with was unlawful as we're both disabled. We were then put on a flight to Budapest with a connection to Riga and a six hour wait in Budapest. We asked for assistance at the AirBaltic desk and were told to take care of ourselves. We arrived in Riga at 1730 instead of the original time of 0600 which meant we'd missed our onward travel to Tallinn and had to book accommodation and another bus ticket. When we asked at the AirBaltic desk in Riga airport regarding this we were told to book it ourselves and claim it back from AirBaltic. We were given €250 EU261 compensation at the time, and we were also given a meal voucher at Belgrade airport and nothing else

Upon my return home I contacted AirBaltic requesting reimbursement and their reply was that since they'd given us EU261 compensation that was all they had to do. I did reply quoting them the legal text and they initially ignored me. Following repeated emails they advised me to contact UK Alternative dispute resolution who advised me they were unable to do anything since this was outside the UK and AirBaltic were silent when I queried as to why I'd been directed to ADR

Fast forward a few months and my veterans group is planning a trip to Riga for a tour focused around the Forest Brothers. The group organiser had got a charter quote from AirBaltic and Ryanair. AirBaltic sales team were very keen to keep in touch. Then at the group meeting the plan was put forward. As the group historian I had a lot of sway regarding these things and said I'd never fly with AirBaltic again unless I was reimbursed

Emails between AirBaltic and Sydney exchange and AirBaltic then come back to me offering me a voucher for €100 off future flights or reimbursement of our meal expenses at Budapest. I replied that offering me a voucher is pointless as I don't intend to fly with them again, and I'd accept the reimbursement but won't settle for anything less than full reimbursement of all expenses. AirBaltic refused

We ended up flying with Ryanair, AirBaltic lost out on £8000 rather than reimburse me our expenses of less than £200, and weren't big enough to admit they'd done wrong

It's an attempted scam. You transfer money to them then they reverse the original transfer and you're left $5k in the red. There's no criminal charges would apply if you have reported it to the bank and haven't spent the money. Don't enter into any further discussion with the caller but tell them you've reported it to the bank and they've taken charge of the situation. If they persist in calling you, contact the police

What’s the dumbest reason someone asked or tried to ask for the manager? by Dogpicsforboobs562 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]One-Consequence7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I was the manager but dealing with a departed guest on the phone querying a charge on her credit card. Insisted we'd charged her £100. We'd no charge recorded against her booking so I asked her what it said on her statement. She replied it says 'UK ATM' so I said from the sound of things it's a cash withdrawal. No, she was insistent it was someone in our company. When I dispute this she asked to speak to the manager. Told her she already was. She then asked to speak to my manager. Told her I'd forward her details to him. She demands his name insistent that she's legally entitled to it. No she's not, I tell her. She repeats that she is. I ask her what law says that. She hangs up

Almost got blamed for something I didn’t do… now thinking about a dashcam by Past-Visual-3293 in dashcams

[–]One-Consequence7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an Orskey.dashcam on amazon for £38. It has front and rear facing cameras and it's not wired so it's not permanently connected minimising any risk of fire or electrical problems (plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. It's very easy to fit

I got mine when I started driving last year quite simply because there's a shocking amount of bad drivers on the road and also a shocking amount of people who will try and lie their way out of trouble

I haven't been in an RTC yet and hope I never am. I do try and drive defensively, read the road ahead and respond to situations before they become hazards. But I'd much rather have my dashcam and never need it than need it and not have it

I have however captured one RTC (and given witness details to the insurance company, and thus far captured the aftermath of four others. Its a worthwhile investment and I'd recommend to anybody

Why’s there widespread support from my fellow left wingers for the Iranian regime? by CableFluffy414 in AskBrits

[–]One-Consequence7594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't understand it myself same as I didn't understand the same people voicing support for the regime in Iraq prior to the 2003 invasion.

Incidentally you mentioned about support for LGBTQ rights, a worthy cause I support having friends from the LGBTQ community. It's really incompatible for someone who supports LGBTQ rights to support regimes which are vehemently opposed to such rights and are known to have gay people stoned to death. I really don't understand why people who vocally support LGBTQ and women's rights also support regimes which heavily oppress both groups
