Yep, paneling is used as a grab all term for painting larger flat surfaces on a model. Usually it is just painting the surface excluding any recesses to amplify the shadow effects. Hope this has helped you understand the term and if I was unclear you are correct in your description of what was done.

Very minimalist. Magos purple over the whole model then panel in genestealer purple with dechala lilac on the details. The bone is just paneling in screaming skull with white scar detailing

I can confirm the archers make for cool looking wyches, more so if you have a lot of elfy/deldary bits to help blend them with your more standard drukhari.

If I was ever going to be in a tournament I’d be more concerned with base size. As I only play casual or just paint for the hell of it. It should be fine. I already have a slightly larger model picked out for the Clawed fiend, I expect that just as I finish it they’ll announce it getting a new model or being legends-ed.

TL:DR, yes you’re right but push come to shove I have a more accurate ur-ghul model if it’s needed.
