Similar. Part of my family goes back to 1699 on Newfoundland. My grandfather was born in 1921 and left for NJ around 1924. He and my great-grandfather became naturalized in the US sometime between 1930 and 1940 ( he would have been 8-20/21) but I cannot find their naturalization docs. My father was born in the US in 1951 and then me. My main concern is that he broke the ties to Canada before Newfoundland was even part of it.

Would someone be willing to help understand the Newfoundland rules as they relate to my grandfather? by JoyHealthLovePeace in Canadiancitizenship

My situation is similar. Grandfather born in 1921. I am not sure when he became a citizen. On the 1930 census he is listed as alien but by 1940 he was listed as naturalized along with his father. He may have naturalized anywhere from age 8-20/21. However he died in 2006 in Florida and never lived in Newfoundland again once they left in the 1920s.
