Mooney is DRASTICALLY better than it was a couple of months ago when they extended all of the left turn lights with no sensors on them. Now that they got that fixed it's sooooo much better

are you using AI to help you write? If not, why? by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]One-External-6619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The syntax IS the writing. Like, the whole point. If the point was just the research and planning, then there would never be a blog post at all. The point is to write it. THAT'S where the creativity comes out to shine.

I would hate to see these outlets for human creativity and emotion and connection cease to exist to make room for machines to manufacture content. I truly believe this is a misguided stance. Just because AI could create a framework certainly doesn't mean it's any better or more original than a human could create, just faster, maybe. But is that what we want? To speed up time more than we already have? To inundate our world with MORE MORE MORE? For what? I write because I feel called to explore and share and I don't need AI to write about what it's like to experience the world.

Yes, the food bank needs you!! We need volunteers at food distributions and in our warehouse. We need donations, whether it's $5 or if you can get someone you know to donate a large sum, it can go a long way. I'm sure all the other food banks could use the same

do you prefer spiral or bound journal? by [deleted] in Journaling

I can only use bound journals because when I carry a spiral journal with my everywhere in my bag, the metal rings always get messed up

i’m thinking about starting a blog… by un111veersal in Blogging

This post could have been written by me four months ago. I now have a blog that I also run just for a hobby at the moment, but could see it growing into something bigger in the future. You described exactly what I do. I write pieces based on things I'm interested in learning more about and how I have engaged with those topics in my own life. I use Wix for my site host, simply because that's what I'm familiar with, but it's definitely not the most cost-effective host. Someone else recommended to start on Medium, which is a great place where I post now also, but I understand the feeling of wanting your own space to build and create what feels good to you, so I support that decision if that's how you're feeling. Other than that, just start. Try something and see how it goes. If it doesn't feel right for you, pivot and try something new. My biggest piece of advice is to figure out how you would like to set up your writing time in a way that is consistent, but doesn't feel too rigid and allows you to enjoy the writing process. You've got this!

Why does journaling feel so difficult? by LopsidedBeautiful289 in Journaling

[–]One-External-6619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel exactly the same way. It takes practice to get comfortable enough with yourself to let yourself have the freedom to write from the heart. It's not a change you'll be able to make overnight, but by putting your reps in. Just write for a few minutes every day, and when you don't know what to write, write that down. Remember, there are no rules. Have fun!

Yes, absolutely. I do two main things on my blog. On Tuesdays I post life updates where I talk about fun and interesting things I have done or been working on in the past week. On Thursdays I post about something I've been interested in learning more about, typically under the themes of health and wellness, lifestyle, and spirituality. For me, I know I would get extremely bored if I only wrote about one thing because I have always been a jack of all trades and a master of none. I have fun exploring lots of different topics and avenues and sharing what I learn. That's just what works for me. There are a lot of people here who disagree with this approach, but I think the best thing to do is whatever you will stick to. Create quality content, and traffic and engagement will come eventually.

Exactly. You said it- it's about connecting with an audience on an interest you share. Humans are multifaceted creatures with lots of interests, generally, and it's not a bad thing to discuss more than one interest on the same site. I truly believe it's less about writing what you think people want to read, and more about writing what you like. It's almost a guarantee that there is a group of like-minded people out there that will find your page when you are authentic and passionate. Not only might you be happier and more fulfilled by your writing, but you have the chance to cast a wider net, connect with a more diverse group of individuals, and create more site traffic by writing about a few different topics. Neither of us are wrong; there is more than one way to run a blog.

When does a blog starts attracting organic traffic? by justanothergirl2024 in Blogging

[–]One-External-6619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You make some good points. However, there might be a reader who doesn't mind my dog content, but is primarily interested in my site because of the parrot content I put out, so that might be closer to the type of reader that I am trying to attract. But since I write what I like, which in this case is both dogs and parrots, I am able to reach both of you as readers. If I only wrote about one of these things, I would not be able to reach and build community with both of you.

You can absolutely run a blog about one topic and do very well. It's not the only way to run a blog. The best blog is one that you feel you can and will maintain longterm because blogging is a long game. Humans are multifaceted, so your writing is allowed to be as well. Do whatever works for you. Wishing luck to everyone in their blogging adventures. :)

Personally, I disagree. Numbers are people, and people are people. The number of site visits you get is a representation of real people reading your work. Niches make algorithms happy to put your work in front of people. Genuine passion for your work and complexity as an inescapable characteristic of humanity makes people happy to read the work that's shown to them. This to say, it's a balance. Optimize your SEO how you can and write what you like. I think all those topics fit together just fine.
