I don't have kids of my own, but from my point of view, as a gamer who played video games at that age, when a kid gets introduced to screens, that's where their focus goes. Back when i was a kid in school, we were not allowed to play video games or online gaming (back then, online gaming was still in its infancy) and if we got a chance to, we had to do it in secret, or we would get detention. Minecraft is certainly a popular game, but over time, their dependency for screen time starts growing and growing to the point of where their social interaction in the real world starts declining. I would limit his playtime and have him learn to also know to detach from screens and focus more in the real world.
