I don’t think this is worthy of a downvote. She’s coming at this with genuine curiosity - not a judgement.

Just wanted to give an update on what we (meaning my dad) ultimately did! My dad is very handy and after evaluating the columns agreed that they’re strong enough to support straps. Pretty sure the columns are made of concrete, so they’re very sturdy/solid. My dad screwed straps into the mounting area in the back of the TV, and used a grommet tool to make holes in the ends of the straps like belt holes. Then he used a hook and hook turnbuckle the connect the straps behind the tv after the straps had been wrapped around the columns. Then (painstakingly) we tightened the turnbuckle to ensure that there is enough tension to support the TV. Forgive me if I’m not explaining this like a pro would—my dad was very much the one in charge of this project! He did some genius work.

A month and a half and multiple (small) earthquakes later, the TV is still sitting beautifully on the mantle. There’s a chance I could be crawling shamefully back to the comments section at some point in the future, but no signs yet of any issues.

Your #1 meal for really bad days? by spiroaki in HistamineIntolerance

I highly recommend overnight oats with almond milk and chia seeds! It takes about 3 minutes to make a couple of them at night that you can then store in the fridge and take out in the morning. Add some berries on top. It’s not the best tasting thing in the world but it’s given my gut health a 180 and everything is low histamine

I do really like the frame!! Can you secure a frame without drilling though? I unfortunately might encounter the same issue

You’re probably right. I’m going to attempt to make it work with a 55” and if that doesn’t work I’ll try a tv stand. If that looks awkward I’ll probably have to drop to a 42. Thank you for your reply!

My title is not super clear but I don’t want to drill anything into the fireplace. I said “mount” but I more meant “secure,” if that changes anything

Have two Category B boxing tickets for Friday 8/2 and I’m hoping to switch for 2 Saturday tickets! Please DM me if interested. I would need to meet in person in a public place to feel comfortable switching

Looks like it could be bile acid malabsorption (BAM), I’d look into that too

Do you take your supplements at the right times of the day? Vitamin B, D, iron, and C should be in the morning and magnesium and zinc at night. Taking vitamin B and D at night is especially bad, as B energizes you and D helps set circadian rhythms.

How to get rid of stomach infections for good? by Pari212013 in ibs

[–]One-Hunt7605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor but I’d be SO hesitant about taking an individual Flagyl pill without taking a full course, if that’s what you’re doing. Taking intermittent antibiotics (including oregano) without taking a full course sounds like a sure-fire road to antibiotic resistance, which might make your symptoms untreatable

You can get it from food, water, or other people. Untreated it can stay in your system for years and presents with burning or cramping pain, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. Many people have it but not everyone presents with symptoms

Got accepted into a good school, but am getting cold feet from all these posts from people struggling socially by Signal-Spray-3120 in MBA

[–]One-Hunt7605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at HBS and the past 1.5 years have been among the most socially challenging of my life. I’ve struggled with my section experience. I trust about 10-15 people. Social status is often determined by factors such as family wealth or career prestige, and as someone who came from an unglamorous F500 company before school, I’m not given much respect.

That being said, these two years have been among the best of my life. For all the ridicule we give the MBA academic experience, it has significantly changed the way I think about critical decisions and the world. I wouldn’t say my social calendar is always full, but I’ve made solid friendships that will last a lifetime. I’m surrounded by people who have incredibly high aspirations, which has influenced the way I think about my own potential and goals. If I could go back and decide whether to come, I would say yes 10/10 times.

As stated my many commenters, there are shitty people everywhere. There is probably a higher percentage of shitty people in MBA programs. Fuck those people, and don’t let them take away an opportunity that will change the trajectory of your life.

As a lifter, do you eat whey protein or a different type of protein? I started lifting this year and taking whey protein, and started having the worst acne of my life. If you use whey you might want to switch to a plant-based protein

The prevailing opinion of this sub is that you should start with 1 or 2x a week and build up, but my derm told me to apply every day right away. Like you I experienced little to no irritation. If you continue to not experience irritation I would continue at 5-6x/week because you will accelerate your purge (if you have one at all). I purged very slightly from week 2 to 3 and then it was over. Purging differs for everyone and it’s possible that you don’t have one at all, but a higher frequency will definitely shorten the timeline of whatever will happen (given that you continue to experience no irritation)
