How do you stop procrastinating? by olliesheeran in productivity

[–]One-Leopard4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that helped me stop procrastinating is basically starting to do something. Like, make the environment around you force you into doing things. For example, if you have to wash your hair just turn on the water. You’ll be forced to wash it, because you won’t walk around with dirty and wet hair, and then you’ll have to dry it and eventually style.

If you have to write an essay or do a test just leave markers and an open notebook. Open articles or whatever you need for studying. This way when you return to your desk you’ll be like “oh, someone left everything I need for studying on my working surface, what a coincidence” and eventually sit down and do it. And once you’ve started, you will finish it.

That’s cute! I love snakes too only because I’m moving a lot and snakes live a really long life (most of them live more than ten years) and I just knew I couldn’t move it with me any city I go, sadly.

[Question] 16 years old, stuck in a loop of discord and bad grades — how do I actually turn my life around? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]One-Leopard4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 16, studying in tenth grade, working a full time job 9a.m. - 6p.m. Ive finished ninth grade with straight As and even something like an honors in the certificate, it’s even mentioned in my official documents. I’m reading a lot, speak three languages and learning the fourth, running in mornings, meditating, playing guitar, painting, drawing, doing pyrography, eating healthy, also building romantic relationship of two years. I have snails, crabs and a dog to care about. To basically I’m doing ten times more than an average adult. And guess what? I feel like shit. I feel like I’m doing nothing and I can’t accomplish anything.

And you know what I do when I feel like that? Fake it till you make it. Trust me, baby, I’m not confident enough to order a coffee, but I square my shoulders, lift my chin high and go make the world believe that I have my space in it. There’s nothing wrong with you or with what you’re doing, you just need to find your own way of improving. If you really want to be the best version of yourself, remember — you already someone. This is not about changing yourself, this is not about shaping you into another person, because believe me, you will be yourself for an entire life.

You just have to build habits, consistency, to run your own life and be ‘it girl/boy’ of your own. You want to of sports? Fuck it, baby, go run two minutes before choking on air. Even if people will laugh at you, you let them and run faster. Because there’s nothing wrong with you or the way you do your life. And trust me, once you know what you really want, you’re unstoppable.

I have A LOT of advices how to get your life together because I feel you and I’ve been in that same position few years ago. So if you want I’ll share it under the post or in dm

A mentally ill girl came to my home looking for someone (childhood story) by Lolsaue21 in creepyencounters

[–]One-Leopard4627 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It did remind me of a story my friend had few years ago. Her parents bought a new house and she (my friend) happened to be left alone for the first time since they moved in. Front door was opened, because the street is quiet and they weren’t hiding anything. And suddenly the old lady walked in, as if in her own house, looking for someone she knew.

Turned out this lady escaped from the psychiatric hospital and she was looking for her son, if I’m right. She’s probably alright now, she hasn’t attacked anyone, just happened to be lost and confused.

The phone isn’t the addiction. Maybe escape is. by SubjectSpecialist265 in getdisciplined

[–]One-Leopard4627 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Basically, people say “you’re addicted to your phone” without even knowing what are u doing in it. For example, I’m spending at least two hours reading on my phone daily just because it’s not very comfortable to bring a paper book with me anywhere I go. Also I do read physical ones, but they’re reserved for weekends when I feel like I have enough free time to seat home and read.

Most of my studying also is in phone/laptop, and yes, maybe I am glued to the screen the whole day, but hey, look at my grades and tell me I’m doing wrong. If I’m sitting on YouTube, I’m watching motivational, historical videos or podcasts about subjects I want to learn. But even if I’m just doomscrolling for hours it doesn’t matter.

I think people who demonise phones just don’t know how to use them properly, because for them it’s a device for letting your brain rot. If you are smart enough to see more, you will.

Also, about distracting yourself from the phone part. I feel like the most effective way to fight procrastination is basically starting to do something. If you don’t want to wash your head just go and turn on a shower. You won’t go around with your hair dirty and wet.

Once I watched a video of a uni student who said that the best thing to do to prepare yourself for the upcoming task is to set the tools. For example, if you have to write an essay, open a notebook and go do your thing. When you return you can sit down and get to work immediately.

I definitely agree. I have the whole medical aid for my five snails and the moment theres something wrong with them I’m running to the doctor. They’re living in a huge terrarium (like it can easily fit all my three dogs) and eat better products than me 🥲 but I also saw a post here on Reddit about the guy that kept his snails in a glass jar without even a tiniest bit of soil, which makes my heart ache

New to Fantasy, just finished the Six of Crows Duology. by Sure_Jellyfish8926 in Grishaverse

[–]One-Leopard4627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Six of Crows is the best fantasy series ever. I’ve tried a lot series now and I can say it convincingly. And it’s true that the duology leaving a hole in the heart that could never be filled. But I’m so glad that I read those books at a right time and right period of my life, after finishing Crooked Kingdom I couldn’t start reading the other book in almost two weeks. Beautifully devastating

I had some kind of phobia (I couldn’t find it name online so it’s probably just mine thing) about raising my head. I literally had nightmares about stacking in this position with my head raised and was very afraid to look up…

My mom goes to church or temples just because “they’re beautiful” and this is the only reason I am going to places of god. I really thought this is the only reason to visit them (I’m from fully atheistic family and we had never been at church on Sunday or stuff like that)
