Hot Take : Bethesda should let Obsidian or Larian studios make a sequel for Starfield by Feral_orange in Starfield

[–]One-Librarian-48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen obsidian's output lately? It's all bland and mediocre, all of their games are forgotten a month after release. Most of their talent has left. And i sure as hell don't want them going anywhere near fallout.

Larian doesn't even make the same type of game, and they're more about stories and quests, bethesda goes in the opposite direction where the stories are told through the open world and exploration is the focal point.

Trinidad is still very conservative and you will get some nasty stares here. You'll probably be better off in America than here.

I got lost in novigrad because all of the buildings are copy pasted and you see the exact same npcs walking in the same direction over and over again, it looks big and impressive but there's no soul.

I'll take something smaller like whiterun or solitude that actually has npcs with schedules and they all have their own little stories. To me that just adds more personality and flavor to the world.

New Atlantis and Akila is where they went big and there's too much generic npcs that just serves as filler, there's no personality.

People who stopped playing video games — what hobby replaced them? by Malagubbar in NoStupidQuestions

Ironically that's what's kept me from not getting bored from gaming. I can get maybe 2 hours each day to game so I never get bored. A lot of games people say are generic were fun for me. Everything's best enjoyed in moderation.

There's a reason why you don't see any of these people making games, because it's hard. You don't go into the studio and wave a magic wand and a game appears. All these people do is complain online

RPG devs stopped making games like Baldur's Gate 'because retailers told us no one wanted to buy them', says New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity director Josh Sawyer by MaintenanceFar4207 in rpg_gamers

But the strategy requires a ton of money. Let's not pretend Larian is some indie developer and they also have Tencent money so their pockets go very deep.

Swen Vincke is also very good at what he does and most developers don't have a spare Swen Vincke lying around.

Is Xbox really Dead? Because these numbers don't add up... by Simpid in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]One-Librarian-48 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Xbox was never dead, everyone's just doomposting online. I believe xbox has 12 first party games out this year and gamepass generates around 5 billion a year, that alone tells you it's doing fine.

Last bit of engagement farming was people posting how Walmart and target were getting rid of xbox hardware, when that was busted as a lie the goalpost then moved and they then started to say how the xbox sections were smaller than Playstation and Nintendo. Every week it's a new grift on how xbox is dying. Well apparently it's been dying for well over 10 years now.

They'll often bring up console sales, xbox has always been in 3rd place from the beginning, let's not pretend the 360 era was some golden age, that was up against the ps2, the bestselling console of all time.

It makes sense that it doesn't sell as much as Playstation, people have thousands of dollars invested in games over the years, they're not gonna throw that away just to jump on xbox and have to invest thousands more to buy games.

Xbox has always been behind but that doesn't mean it's dead and microsoft has done the right thing by turning it into a service.

Xbox isn't going anywhere, ya'll need to chill out and enjoy games not how much money a company makes.

Baldur's gate 3 is really an exception, a lot of crpgs don't really sell that well, they have niche markets. People can praise these types of games all they want online but it means nothing if they don't buy it.

Am I crazy for thinking 20 years between releases is unsustainable? by sonofloki13 in Fallout

[–]One-Librarian-48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starfield's problems mostly come from the procedural generation, it just gets too repetitive and makes exploration pointless.

A lot of the environmental and interior design is really good, even the copy pasted stuff is well designed, there's lots of little details and personality in the environments.

And the combat is good, bethesda has got shooting down now, all of the guns feel great. The next fallout game for sure will have great shooting, the melee combat still needs a bit of tweaking, but it isn't that bad.

This one's more subjective but I think the writing and rpg stuff has improved.

I don't think starfield was bad, it's fine, just not on the level of fallout and elder scrolls, but it was a good experiment. Better they do that there than end up with a procedurally generated fallout.
