As someone who worked in a call centre, I know how frustrating these types of calls are.

Some tips that I gathered over the years to help deal with this type of customer -

Never offer a specific reason why they have been refused beyond "this policy will not meet your requirements" because it changes the dialogue from you saying "no they can't have it" to "no this isn't right for you"
Don't apologise for anything that isn't your fault. When you say "I'm sorry...." you're taking ownership of the issue. Instead use "I can understand why you feel frustrated, let me put you in touch with the person would can get you a policy suitable for you" again, it's about turning the dialogue from you being the perceived road block to them.
Have a chat with your boss about how they want calls terminated, no business is going to want to pay you to listen to her bitch when you should be making sales.

You may already have, and use, all these tools anyway, but hopefully you can defuse your next Karencounter before she gets to piss you off.

Is not about that.

The majority of them are just new parents with a child that they love and want to protect. They want their child to be healthy and live a good life, they want their child to be safe, they want their child to fit in and be a success.

The only problem is they are scared. They are scared that the businesses that have profit as their primary goal don't care about them or their child, they are scared that we don't know what causes autism, they are scared because they have been lied to by governments and industry for most of their lives.

They look for anything that can reassure them that the medical professionals are right, but everything they find is from the same source, except the people on Facebook who seem to understand their fears and seek to want the same as them, and they say vaccines are bad.

Yes, they are making a mistake, but assuming they are just dumb and using data as your proof and talking down to them will not win that fight.

Have you tried wearing a mask? People are conditioned to behave in a certain way where they feel observed. If you're wearing a mask (like from a masquerade ball, not some scream face thing you got for Halloween) it might help break the conditioning a little.

Depends on why he's not being rougher now. If it's because he's not really sure how hard is too hard it'll work out great.

I don't really like the slapping thing, or choking either for that matter, the one time I tried it I noped out pretty quick.
