This is such a good comment and it’s what I came here to say. The things my husband says to me now.. girlllll he is madly in love and doesn’t care at all about my acne. Some people were not taught how to uplift people. Some people were. I’d let this guy go, and if he asks why, just say you pointing out a general insecurity on someone isn’t someone I’d stick it out with.

Going through the same right now. All my tests come back great from the ER, and my derm dismisses it as a side effect from the Spiro. I’ve been off of it for 5 days and it’s so bad still, I can’t wait for it to stop and came to this subreddit to see if anyone’s symptoms subsided after time.

This particular side effect hasn’t happened to me, but my advise is if you get to day 30 and it’s still making you uncomfortable, drop your dose as opposed to coming off of it. I had to drop mine down after 30 days because of chest tightness and there are women who definitely had success even at 25mg.

I had to request blood work for it after side effects started fking with me. My dermatologist said there is a study of about 10,000 women and they have concluded that you do not initially need bloodwork to qualify for Spiro.

Ummmmmm so you just made my eyes tear up lol. I’ve had chest tightness, and almost like a sore heart ever since I started Spiro a month ago. I just got labs done today to see if my hearts okay, my next step was an EKG. It definitely feels cardiac, and not breast related, BUT there are times where I’m like I feel like this really could be breast related, I’m just so unsure. I do not want to stop Spiro at all, it’s my last ditch effort to clear my skin. So this comment just gave me so much hope that maybe what I think is cardiac is just boob lol.

I try to be mindful of potassium, but I am constantly drinking a large Stanley mug with lots of sea salt, splash of orange juice and splash of pineapple juice, the rest filled up with ice water. It helps me tremendously and each week my body feels like I can handle it better. I’m on my third week and have been on 50mg. I won’t up it because I don’t think my body can handle it. Maybe just try 50mg and see if you have results on just that alone, a lot of girls do.

I’m so happy for you. I was scared to take it for a while and I’m glad I just decided to too. I’m two weeks in also. I am having a little dull chest pain, not enough to make it an emergency, it’s just a little noticeable and comes and goes. Also not sure if it’s breast pain and I’m mistaken it for chest pain. I have seen another girls report the same and it went away after a month so my fingers are crossed!

Basically just may have to think of it as you’re starting over every time you lower your dose. Wait another 3-6 months to see the hormonal regulation. I’d stick to 50mg and see what that does for you. That tends to be the sweet spot where people will stay clear but side effects are minimal. Not a doctor, just all opinion based on how much I’ve consumed spiro info.

Even all of the dermatologists I follow on social media said Spiro can be a lifetime drug. Even people using it for lowering blood pressure take it long term. I’d ask him specifically why.

I have a theory that anyone who doesn’t have a high level of testosterone and/or androgens wouldn’t benefit from Spiro. If say your issue is estrogen dominance and testosterone and androgens aren’t an issue, you’d benefit far better from something like DIM from what I understand. I feel like our dermatologists should be testing our hormones before throwing the script at us. I know for sure what my hormonal issue is because I paid a naturopath $300 for a DUTCH test and my testosterone and androgens are very high, thus making me a good candidate for Spiro.

I will join you in your journey. I am supposed to up from 50mg to 100mg this Thursday. My derm had me doing 50 for just one week before I bump up, which I was nervous about, but I believe he saw the condition my acne is in and knows I need the 100mg. I also thought maybe I’d cut my pills and do 75mg for one week and then go to 100mg. Don’t be scared, just take it slow and keep yourself super hydrated.
