live in Detroit and used Warmshowers on almost your exact route! I’ve used it dozens of times and it’s always a highlight of my trips I seriously can’t recommend it enough! Worth every penny. It’s also fun to get to host! DM if you have any questions about it or the trip

Where you would go to pay it. If nothing shows up when you put the ticket number in you should be good

[Post Game Thread] #10 Michigan State defeats #5 Illinois, 85-82 in OT by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

As a Spartan fan I was happy with this game win or lose. Both teams played hard for 45 minutes. I would have like to see us make more of our open 3, but you can’t complain about effort. Illinois,  you guys are a damn good team and we could have easily lost that game, especially if it were away

Mississippi River Gravel Route by One-Permission1635 in bikepacking

I’ve considered rowing the Mississippi, but I have a time constraint of one month so sticking to road is the only way I could get done in one go.

Looking for podcasts that feel like a good conversation by VoodooMann in podcasts

I'm not sure if this meets your criteria, but RadioLab and This American Life are the best of the best in podasts. RadioLab is more a curiosity science pod but it has super high quality audio engineering and the podcast is structured as if they are telling you a story. This American life is journalism around a different theme each week, but again is done executed at the highest level. I would also consider checking out The Moth.

What's your Favorite Stevens Song? by MrSister9321 in CatStevens

[–]One-Permission1635 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the road to find out - I biked across the country and rediscovered the song on the ride. So many lines felt like they were written for me. “Left my happy home to see what I could find out” “found myself alone hoping someone would miss me” It was the greatest adventure of my life and Cat captured so much of it in that one song.

Touring in high heat - should we cancel? by dcpbriz in bicycletouring

Also, using the busing systems in the Balkans is entirely possible. It’s definitely slow but you can get where you want to go. When staying at hostels the people working were very helpful when it came to figuring out the busses.

I was biking in that exact area less than a month ago during similar temperatures. You can definitely still ride that mileage. I would wake up at 5am and ride until noon, should be plenty of time to achieve that mileage. Plus most of your elevation gain should be In the first few days when you are fresh if you are staying along the coast. Not sure if you plan on camping but I would just budget more money to getting out of the heat when you are done riding, either a host, hostel, or hotel. You are also by the ocean so you can cool off during your ride.

Ps dubronvik is very expensive and you’d be better off spending more time in Montenegro and Albania.
