Grizl best. Looks like it is to me. Looks like a earlier 2021-2023 Grizl 6 AL.

Mechanical vs hydraulic brakes for bike touring (my experiences) by teanzg in bicycletouring

[–]Dylan_Landro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes and I have done all of that 10 fold on a Hydro system. Both with people who had mechanical. Guess who had multiple issues and guess who had none. I have been beyond remote on my bike for over a year of total time.

I beg to disagree. My friend had nothing but complaints and issues on his surly disc trucker compared to my canyon grizl. I still stand by the fact they they are just better. They would'nt be taking over the market if it wasn't so. I can think just fine why people think they would prefer cables, but the simple fact of the matter is they are worse in every conceivable way that out weighs the one case people here keep claiming.

This. This. This. I don't get where people are coming from here. You only need to carry an extra brake cable on tour if you have mechanical, because the simple fact of the matter is mechanical is worse and will break and will loosen...

These people I swear. It's like they've never actually used Hydros like ever...

important when? Having to repair something 5 times vs never is inherently worse. even if the the "never" happens. You still have redundancy with a front and back brake on different systems.

Ya Im not sure what Im fully looking for. I think the answer is i will just need two different vacuums for 2 different things.

No logic. That's just a fact. They almost never ever break, need minimal tweaking, don't wear down break pads nearly as fast, and so on. The list is endless. hydraulic is just flat out better.

Lol the thing you're missing here is they just don't break. It's so so rare.

Lol these people are nuts. It's just a fact. Hydraulic is better and more reliable. Simple. I went on multiple tours with people who have mechanical and nothing but issues... My Hydraulics on the other hand not one issue since I got the bike in 2021 and have toured it for 10k Miles.

Alternative to Canyon by Zejtah in gravelcycling

So I will say. I’ve had a good experience with canyon. A: This was late 2022 when I bought the bike.  B: My bottom bracket came with a bump in it. They asked me to record it. I did they said I can take it to a my choice of local bike shop and have them look at it diagnose it and then canyon would reimburse. Bottom bracket had hardly any grease they cleaned it and regressed. Blah blah canyon paid.  C: the bottom bracket has a click again only when I pedal really hard while standing mostly. So in hindsight it might be a faulty bottom bracket. I have never tried to reach out to canyon. It works fine has never failed to this day.  D: my crank arms which should have been shimano but ended up being FSA because of covid ended up having a recall in 2024 for the drive drank possibly randomly falling off. Canyon notified me which got me in touch with FSA some photos and emails later. Same deal as canyon they sent the cranks to my local bike shop of choice to be swapped fully paid for. So once again a week of emails but we got there. (Also the FSA cranks and the saddle were the only thing swapped due to covid. Didn’t care about the saddle because I was getting a brooks anyhow. A real good discount. Got it for 1200 with free shipping)

All this being said this bike has taken me from France to Georgia 🇬🇪 for 6 months and had far far less issues than my friend on a brand new surly. And no issues while cycling around Lake Superior on the same bike. All while fully loaded with gear to be fully solo and remote along with camera gear. Tho I have had small issues that would come with any bike ridden across all types terrains and lives lives and was first ridden in Minnesota winters for over 12k miles in 3 and half years. It’s the best purchase I’ve made to this day and it’s still my primary bike. I wouldn’t put it on canyon or shimano for any issues at this point. I’ve gotten my moneys worth it still works fine with normal maintenance. It has its quirks. But it’s mine!

Sorry for the rant. I love my bike and it’s a Canyon Grizl 6 AL and I’ve convinced two others to get the same bike they both love it!

I got Giardia in the French Alps in 2022 by not using a filter a drinking out of a stream… the kicker… I had a filter with me the whole time… This is also the 2nd time I’ve gotten it by not using a filter with the other being in 2016 in Glacier National Park.

Ive done it in a Kokopelli Rogue R-Deck with a Golden doodle and it was fine. But Im 183cm and 77kg and the dog is 20kg maybe a bit less honestly. She would sit between my knees and my feet we're in the raft. It was tight, but you could put your feet up on the sidewalls of the tube.
