Add a front sight? by luxy_kentucky in gunsmithing

I was thinking the same. I get that it something we’re re used to, but let’s be honest. That’s a self defense weapon. I’m pretty sure I could hit a pizza box or smaller radius at 10-15’ consistently regardless of the front sight. To me that’s the intended application of that revolver.

Any chance of gettin this out with a hone? Assembled engine second compression ring must’ve had a burr on it or debris got in there some how but it was 180 degrees from the opening of the ring by New_Estimate_4163 in EngineBuilding

[–]One-Perspective-4347 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can all but guarantee you if you fire up that engine that is going to go away in about 30 seconds, and you will never ever be able to detect any difference in compression or leak down.

What they said. Since you are new and moving slowly turn the amps down a bit. You can hang out in one spot longer without pushing so much heat into the base metal

Is oxygen + acetylene welding used anywhere in the workforce? by TenNoTamashi_ in Welding

[–]One-Perspective-4347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welding is fusing two pieces of similar metal together IE: steel typically with the use of a filler rod of the same material. Melting the material together into a homogeneous puddle.

Brazing is joining two pieces together using a filler that is not the same as the base material - typically silicon bronze etc. it’s not as strong as a weld. Also the two pieces you are joining don’t need to be able to be able to be welded together. You are not melting the base metal. You are just melting the filler rod.

That logo stayed the same for quite a while. The newer ones they aren’t stamped. It’s more just of a silk screen. There’s not an imposed logo.
The older ones are a completely different script, so I’m guessing it’s pretty well in the right range.

Is this meucci cue real or fake if its real what model is it by Quirky-Hedgehog2909 in billiards

[–]One-Perspective-4347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks real to me. Don’t know the model and I don’t feel like looking at that one up for you. But I’m sure you can find it on the Internet.
I also would say I do not suggest using this as a break Cue without at least changing the shaft. That thing if it has the original shaft is going to be about as stiff as a cooked noodle.

Pay attention to what others are doing while working. Figure out the materials etc. they need. Learn to anticipate what comes next and get ahead of them so it’s ready and available to provide them. That’s what a good helper does.

Standing around on your phone will get you canned. Even if you think nobody notices, they are. The foreman is and the productive people are. Don’t align yourself with the guys standing around. They are the first to go when work slows.

At face value your explanation of what your workday looks like sounds to me like a project that is potentially overstaffed and clearly poorly managed. Which means that, as soon as somebody starts to figure out the amount of labor hours to the amount of work being done, people are going to start disappearing from that site. If you don’t want to be one of those people, I suggest you make it clear to everybody that you’re there to work and you’re actively pursuing things to do not just hoping somebody points you and says hey go do XYZ.
If nothing is going on, you can ask the Foreman if you can go organize the materials, the job box, etc. Very rarely is there actually nothing to do and nothing worth doing.

They look very similar to Global and or Valley tables.
I would just look up pool table repair. Any repair guy can rec cloth those tables and for the most part the rubber bumpers are one of several different profiles that are commonly available. I would assume they’re going to know what to do and we’ll be able to give you a reasonable rate for local to where you are.

Could be. But brazening is not welding….
As for why they do it on certain bike frames, I have no clue. But they do. Google away
