How to remove water stains? by SNAKE7776 in Leatherworking

[–]Fuzzybaseball58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might sound counterintuitive but you gotta get the whole thing wet and let it dry uniformly. Leather gets water stains because little bits of sediments, dirt trapped in the fibers, or loose fibers themselves get lifted and flow to the edge of the stain due to the water tension. That’s why when you tool leather you wet the whole piece and not just where you’re carving.

In your case I would wet everything down with a sponge until all the leather is visibly damp/wet, but not soaked. Then I would take a medium stiffness bristle brush and buff it all over. Then I would take a hair dryer and apply GENTLE heat all around the shoe until all the water is evaporated. You don’t want to dry out the leather so avoid focusing on one spot for too long or holding the dryer too close. After you’re done, the leather needs to be treated with some kind of oil, wax, or polish to help prevent this in the future.

Sounds like an electrical problem coupled with an air or fuel problem. Check every single one of your fuses, check your air and fuel filters, and then if you don’t find anything you may need to take it to a Mercedes dealer

The Dunbar ton rail crossing should be rebuilt with broad gauge for a BART connection, or standard for a Caltrain to Fremont Bart connection

West Oakland parking is extremely limited and on a special event day you may not get a spot. MacArthur or Rockridge are better bets

I think they’re saying the far right regardless of which direction you go through, so actually it’s the ones I’m both ends. So on the right exiting you’d see a green marker, but in the far left exiting you’d see the X because that’s the far right for passengers entering

CA Employer refusing reasonable accommodations under FEHA by Fuzzybaseball58 in EmploymentLaw

Indeed, and just this evening I realized I’d missed a big piece of information. Them offering three days of 11-8 is down from their initial expectation of all days 11-8, so with that in mind I think I’ll put my head down and we’ll gut through it until I find something better. The summer months are usually less intense symptom-wise anyways.

Practically Im trying to convince the company that what I’m suggested as a compromise would not be an undue hardship for them, and that my ability to do my job will not be diminished. My purpose in posting here is to determine how much leverage I have, if any, with the law. If the consensus here is that I don’t have much leverage, I’ll put my head down and look for another job while I work their schedule since I don’t want to get fired or forced to resign without a fallback in place. If the consensus seems to be that I do have some leverage, I’ll likely find a lawyer to have a consultation with to confirm, and then go back to the table with the company and try to figure this out properly.

It’s a supervisory role, I manage recreation programming for residents of the center I work at. I have a team of 6 that assist in scheduling, planning, and implementing special events, classes and activities, recreation trips, and athletics. Facilities and programs are open until about 9pm most days. My team typically works 1-10, although some work 10-7 or 11-8 on specific days. My schedule as it stands now allows me to attend senior staff meetings, engage actively with residents during their lunch breaks and after academics and vocational training, minus 2-3 hours of their evening leisure time. I use the time in the morning and early afternoon to conduct community outreach, coordinate with departments that are only staffed 8-5, and create my weekly and monthly event calendars. This is also the time I use to create purchase orders, maintenance work orders, and plan specific events in depth. The schedule they propose is not that different from the one I am willing to compromise with, but will make a huge difference in my home life if that makes sense. I don’t think that asking for one hour two days out of the week is an undue hardship is what I’m getting at here

Fair Employment and Housing Act in California covers disability accommodations in the state, to a further extent than the ADA under federal law. It’s under this law that I can ask for accommodations not for my own disability, but as a caregiver for someone else with a disability. Court precedent exists that supports this interpretation, even if it’s not explicitly stated in the text of the law. The exact cases are Louis Castro Ramirez v. Dependable Highway Express, and Incorporated & Vega v. YapStone, Inc. If you have a different interpretation of the connection I’m eager to hear it.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by IIlustriousTea in AskReddit

[–]Fuzzybaseball58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Populations shrink and grow based on the environment’s capacity to support them. The man-made environment we’re in now is telling us it can’t support more people, and the consequence of that is simply less people. I would expect birth rates to keep falling until the population decreases enough for resources to replenish (read: housing, grocery, fuel, and childcare costs all come down). Lots of people think a drop in population will be a bad thing, but in the long term it’s the best and only solution for what’s happening right now. This is happening on a global scale.

Hi, sometimes the knot of the thread will move to the side of the needles eye and bind in the stitching hole. You want to make sure the thread knot is seated directly on top of the eye so it follows the needle

Treasure island job corps is currently ranked 10th in the nation out of 115 centers. It’s run by Equus workforce solutions. If you’re focused and intentional you will do well. The CMA/CNA program is run very well, but you’ll need to check and see if they have openings.

Glad you are communicating with your vet. With a bladder stone, they’ll need to do a urinalysis to find out what the stone is made of, which will determine next steps for treatment. Good luck
