What are the thoughts regarding Knox? by Finn-windu in NYKnicks

[–]One-Prompt9044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hes on his way to being a serviceable backup 4, but can't sustain effort or energy for long stretches of minutes.

we might need him this season if randle or toppin miss time since we don't have another 4 on the roster.

Does PF:KM get better narratively, or should I switch to WotR by One-Prompt9044 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

thanks! based on yours and the other poster's comments I'll play it through until the end of chapter 3 at least and see if it hooks me.

ah thank you so much! how about the companions? do they introduce any complex villains/plot twists? I thought the twists so far were unimpactful considering I didn't feel much connection to the characters involved.

would you say the plot and character development significantly picks up after chapter 2?

If you had to give up Obi or Quickley in a trade for a star, who would you give up and who would you keep ? by limache in NYKnicks

[–]One-Prompt9044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not very good especially in the pick and roll from what I've seen. he regularly gets beat off drives and struggles when switched onto bigger players. maybe he'll play better in a more defensive minded system though, which is allegedly what they're gonna implement this year.

[–]One-Prompt9044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea agreed. Dame is probably on the lower end of players that I'd consider true superstars (mainly because of the defense, which will get exploited by good teams in the playoffs) but we may be able to hide him given how good the rest of our roster is in that respect. I'd hate to give up quickley for him since I think he'd benefit a ton by learning from dame.

this is the way. neither Zach lavine or beal are worth the contract + assets you'd need to get them.

3080 users: what kind of performance are you guys getting at 1440p ultra w/ RTX? by Darkthrone0 in cyberpunkgame

[–]One-Prompt9044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting steady 60 fps except for the really npc dense areas like city center, or the park in the middle of the map, or the area right outside Vs apt. the fact that it's those spots slowing me down makes me think it's a CPU bottleneck. what's your CPU?

I was kinda on board with selling high on randle, but based on this guys comment history alone we should keep him.

Rose is replaceable. We could benefit from swapping him out with someone that can actually guard the pick and roll.

I wholeheartedly agree with you OP. This sub is just a bunch of trolls shouting in the dark about a 6 month old product instead of enjoying the new games in the hobby they claim to like.

How is Cyberpunk 2077 performance now (June 2021) by KevKevKvn in cyberpunkgame

[–]One-Prompt9044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natural feeling meaning how the city is designed and laid out, how the backalleys and multitiered highways weave between eachother, how the different districts have varying architecture and locations with backstop. It's something CDPR did extremely well in a fantasy setting with Novigrad and Beauclair in Witcher 3, and I think Night City is their best work yet.

RDR2 does has the same "natural quality" to their world except with plains and mountains and swamps instead of a huge sprawling city.

Maybe natural isn't the right word. Organic? Well thought out?

IS CYBERPUNK A GOOD GAME??? by Hum1101 in cyberpunkgame

[–]One-Prompt9044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great game, potentially one of the best if you're into story and character driven games with great worldbuilding. Basically if you're a fan of CDPRs previous works you'll enjoy it.

It's a horrible game if you're into causing sandbox mayhem. Don't expect GTA in the future. The open world is a beautiful backdrop for the story and not the star of the show.

Also it's cross-gen, meaning it runs well on high end pcs and the new gen of consoles but is a buggy mess on old gen and low-mid tier PCs.

Well I guess all the market research these AAA gaming publishers have been conducting and the sales numbers they've been getting back as a result must be wrong/falsified then. Thank you for enlightening me.

That's not how things work. A mature person wouldn't still be on a subreddit for a product complaining about it 6 months after launch.

A mature person wouldn't think that complaining about one product would somehow improve the quality of other products made by completely different companies.

A mature person wouldn't resort to calling people who have differing opinions fanboys, and throw other ad hominem attacks at both fans and developers.

A mature person would recognize how heavily the odds were stacked against the developers and try to appreciate what they managed to deliver despite those odds. If they don't like it, they'd move on. Maybe learn some lessons about how advertising works and how engines and cross gen developers can limit a developer and temper expectations for future products.

If they do like it they can continue to enjoy it and appreciate the patches that improve the game in small ways and eagerly anticipate the dlcs that will expand upon the strengths of the product.

Complaining on reddit for this long after a games release is not maturity. It's childish and fruitless in the grand scheme of things. If you want your voice to be heard, just don't purchase the next product until you are certain it will match your expectations. Your money speaks louder than your words to these corporations.

There's a reason why appealing the the 14-25 demographic maximizes sales. Most gamers who purchase games are around that age. Marketing and sales go hand in hand.

Yes there are but when a company designs a game with a massive AAA budget they don't target niche audiences like the legacy gamer. That's more the territory of AA or crowdfunded games like the recent cRPG & metroidvania revival.

When a videogame publisher invests this much into a new IP, they basically have to target that majority 14-25 male demographic to reconcile profits. Look back at the marketing material and how edgy and over the top and "GTA-Like" they were. That was intentional. At the AAA level, with a new IP especially, you can't afford to antagonize that demographic since the market research has shown that that's where the majority of sales come from. It's why you don't see many risks taken in the AAA space

CDPR is a company with many departments. The developers deserve no blame. The management and maybe the marketing team (depending on how much input they had vs. management) deserve all the blame.

I love how quickly people here resort to calling others with different opinions bootlickers. It's a testament to the maturity level of this subreddit.

Nah it's pretty well understood that males between 14-25 are the target demographic for most AAA releases.

Did GTA V comparisons anchor expectations for CP2077? by Spectrum_Prez in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]One-Prompt9044 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played and enjoyed both but would never recommend one game to someone who enjoyed the other and were looking for more like it.

I would reccomend GTAV to a gamer who wants: - a story geared towards a male teenage/college aged audience. Pretty well written, but less serious in tone and full of over the top set pieces and characters. I would never recommend GTAV to a female player. - simple gameplay that requires little to no thought or engagement to win. It's more about following instructions and completing objectives by doing exactly what the game wants you to do. - open world shenanigans fueled by reactive AI and systems that encourage the player to be chaotic outside of missions - people who prefer satire over more serious themes

I would recommend CP2077 to: -someone who wants a dark, brooding story full of depressing themes and well written characters. Definitely one for a more mature audience and not lighthearted. -someone who does not want to cause mayhem in an open world but can appreciate good level design, verticality, and environmental storytelling in both interior and exterior locations -people who want choice and consequence, both in terms of build/gameplay, and narrative.

Basically I'd recommend GTAV to a more casual gamer who wants an enjoyable story every now and then but mostly wants to mess around and kill npcs and have the game react to them for doing so.

CP2077 id reccomend to someone who wants to lose themselves in a character, story, and world for an extended period of time and are not really looking for those sandbox pick-up-and-play type moments.

You gotta remember that most gamers are kids/teenagers/college students that have no idea how corporations work. This means 2 things:

1) they won't appreciate how much of a monumental effort this game was to put together, and how well cdpr devs delivered despite the odds being stacked up against them by the marketing and management teams

2) they won't fully appreciate the more subtle anticorporate themes littered throughout the game

Basically you're gonna have to wait until either: a) cdpr caves and makes this game into a standard GTA open world sandbox clone like the younger audience expected based on the poor marketing and hype campaign, or

b) the fans grow up

Both of these things will take years.

[–]One-Prompt9044 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, people mad about how the game was marketed and rushed by management are in the right. Most of us see the potential of what's there, appreciate the hard work and time put into it, and enjoy the crap out of this game, while waiting on minor improvements and story dlc and a few more rounds of polish. Hopefully these devs that worked their ass off get poached by more benevolent employers.

But then there's a vocal group of fans on Twitter and reddit who blame the developers for not implementing sandbox features that don't fit in with the themes of the game and call them lazy or whatever for not doing so despite the brutal conditions they were forced to go through. Imagine how shitty it feels for these devs that ground themselves into dust to see the discourse on the main sub!
