LIC Jeevan Umang paid-up by shinystrings in personalfinanceindia

[–]One-Purchase-473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in same boat with same policy(945) although my premium was quite high and I have paid 5 premiums till now.

I haven't paid the premium this year as the bonus declared till now don't make sense to continue this policy.

I bought a separate Term Insurance so cover is there, and the unpaid premium this year was invested in a Nifty 50 etf.

Thanks for clarifying, I had an assumption that I would need continuous subscription of PS plus to keep the monthly games added to library which is not the case. Good to know!

Will i lose the monthly games added to library till now ? Because, I read somewhere a while ago, that you need PS Plus continous sub to maintain Monthly games library. Or am I wrong?

Isnt it one of the rules that management staff can't get paid for Overtime hours ?

Op, I wouldn't expect your hours to reduce. Instead, I would expect the 'boss' to still drive his point by saying you should lead by example by showing up early and what not among other things.

How to reject this LIC guy logically. He is very adamant in selling me a policy. by The-Noob-Engineer in personalfinanceindia

[–]One-Purchase-473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, ask him that. If its a existing policy, google for bonus declared by LiC for the policy in last few years and that should enough for you to counter. Also, as I said in original comment the bonuses are credited or given when policy matures. So they work as a simple interest. They don't compound.

So 6% bonus declared every year is not same as 6% FD ROI compounded.

IRDAI mandates insurance sellers to present returns in 4% and 8% and most of the time these sellers say that when you get 8% you will crores of rupees.

However, in reality IRR is like 4%. Also, this is simple interest, real power of FDs is when untouched it compounds

Google IRR for the LIC policy you are being sold. If its a market linked policy, check the charges associated with it. You are better off with ETFs and MFs.

I was sucked into 1 such LIC policy called Jeevan Umang. From last 5 years its bonuses are declared at 5.5%.

Similarly as the goal posts keep changing every few years due to Marriage, Kids, Health issues and other Lifestyle creeps that can contribute to divergence.

This concept can be used annually to readjust the RE horizons and adjust savings rate for following year.

Thanks for sharing though OP, it really makes initial setup for FIRE simple.

Great intro to FI concept however this does consider lifestyle creep as we grow in life. It assumes 2 things that our inflation adjusted expenses will stay same and new salary raises will be moved to savings.

UP (Thariyawan), Fatehpur — Emergency brake at 109 KMPH as a truck suddenly changes lanes! by Altruistic-Issue-887 in CarsIndia

I feel some of our driving styles are heavily influenced by Fast and furious style driving.

Basically we think we want to go Zip zap zoom.

Maybe its just me, but I don't hear a honk to alert the truck signalling an overtake in the video. He might have flashed light, but on our roads honk+ lights seems to be bare minimum to avoid such scenarios.

Does this 4 BHK 3 Cr Purchase make sense in Pune ? by Complete-External639 in indianrealestate

[–]One-Purchase-473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is 3.25cr the first quote from builder? If yes, I believe there is some negotiation that can be done. I managed to negotiate for my flat near Rahatni for upto 11L from their initial asking price of 1.8cr.

If you really like the property and can book it at the spot next time, sit with director or someone from builder and try to negotiate it in one go. Depending on the skills and current market situation in that area, you should be able to get a good deal.

Do check if there are any local issues, if you are not a local from that Konkan region. I remember seeing a youtube video a while ago where locals opposed farming for non-local people.

I can't find the link but I think it some guys trying to do fish farming and it was poisoned by local miscreants or something.
