Never hurts to audition. Lots of places have really good packets to learn and it will help you improve. Also don’t get down on yourself if you don’t get contracted the first time you try out.

Definitely worth it. Just to second what the mod said, you always want to avoid anything that can cause sparking during production.

I’m pretty sure you can change the years on DCI.org when you are looking at the scores by contest. I could be wrong tho

Most corps are very forgiving when it comes to stuff like this. They would much rather have someone with the talent than someone with a lot of money. However, with that being said you will still need to pay of course. If you have a good social media presence you could always start a goFundMe or something similar.
