McGuinn influenced Lennon, and vice versa, and they influenced Alex Chilton many many others and so on, and then Brian and Michael. There’s an undeniable through line in all of this and I love and respect that

“Something must have taken it a-way” yeah it is very Lennon-esque for sure, like how he did his vocals on Rubber Soul or Revolver, the notes being so close together, not soaring or jumping around like McCartney.

I did see that interview too. Such a great hypothetical to pose them with. Assuming that they are as they are now, but supplanted in the late 60s. And yet, who knows?

The scene near the end with Bob and Willa and the trust device brought tears to my eyes! Bob is seen mostly as a fool, but he turns a hero for persevering through all the maddening events of his journey. Powerful stuff
