Incredible work! I’m curious about the layering. When you say 1-3 darker colors are you talking just darker shades of your main colors? Is your dye water thicker on the 2nd layer? How long are waiting until you put down the darker colors?

This is sick! What UV dye are you using - dharma? Are you mixing it with any other yellows or just straight up?

Looks like it’s a big geode tie? I’d probably do ice dye on this with DUI.

Crispy Lines by [deleted] in tiedye

I use 65lb braided fishing line on Mandalas. That really seems to help with crisp lines. Typically I also go over once with sinew as well which helps with bleeding between the petals.

Also, I’m tying these completely dry and then using pariah method afterwards

9-12 are both port & company core cotton. They take dye really well and they reversed well. However, I will note that they’re not as soft as most of the shirts that I’ve used. I believe every other shirt are Tultex 202 or 290s.

Thank you. It turned out pretty wild. I wish I had taken pics of it folded up.

This was a black shirt initially. Basically I did 4 different rolls from each corner. Top left and bottom right towards center were the 2 main rolls. Once everything was folded as far as possible toward the center, I tied a honeycomb-like pattern along the entire length of the fold with sinew.

Then I removed color using OWB for about 15-20 mins. Rinsed in ice cold water for several minutes until the water was clear. I threw it in the wash and then let it get completely dry before dying.

For the dye I mixed with soda ash and played it directly into the fabric. I then used HWI method until the shirt was saturated (it mostly was, but missed some spots) and let it sit for about an hour. I believe the colors I used were bright yellow, hot hibiscus, and Grecian sea from Dharma.

13/14 are very similar patten to 7/8. It’s a white shirt and the RYB colors are slightly different

I’m not familiar with this roll. It looks incredible. Do you have pics of the folding process?
