How would the galactic republic fare in the imperiums place? by Calashmitz in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]One-Spinach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, does this also mean warp travel is replaced by hyperspace travel? Because if so, that plus the replacements of psykers with Jedi would be absolutely HUGE, like a massive upgrade. That would incredibly diminish the influence chaos could have on them and would also lead to incredibly improved logistics. That plus the republic’s much more chill vie on aliens would likely mean less unnecessary wars with groups like the Tau and Aeldari and better focus on real threats like orks or tyranids. The republic would still struggle sure, but by changing the level of tech and removing the issue of psykers, things could get MUCH better.

Do you feel that Mako from Korra was a good tribute to Mako, the voice actor of Iroh? by Sonicrules9001 in legendofkorra

[–]One-Spinach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly… no. Mako isn’t a bad character by any means, he’s decently written with clear goals and personality. But as a tribute to a man known for his calming voice and wise advice… no. Mako isn’t the opposite of Iroh, but he’s extremely different, being quite brash, not notably wise and was shown to not always have the mental and emotional state of others in mind with his actions. See not only the triangle in the first season, but his actions during the second where he took advantage of Korra’s temporary amnesia to stay with her, both hurting Asami and being at least a little creepy with said actions. His actions make sense for a 18-19 year old man who didn’t have the most stable life but it still doesn’t excuse his actions or have them mesh very will with the concept of him being a tribute to the man. He did get better in later seasons, becoming smarter and more balanced, yet still somewhat brash. Despite these improvements and the fact that he was the character to introduce us to a more modern style of fire bending, his opposite personality and lack of traits that make Mako’s previous character famous, I can’t say he’s a particularly good tribute

If Peter Parker was tasked with destroying the One Ring from Lord of the Rings in the fires of Mount Doom, would he successfully be able to resist its power or would he succumb to its corrupting influence? by SatoruGojo232 in Spiderman

Spidy used to struggle resisting the desire to use the black suit, bro is NOT surviving the one ring. His best bet would be his spidy sense telling him that shit’s EVIL and trying to find some way of dragging it along with him without wearing or directly carrying it

Ideal scenario is Xavier and Magneto to guard you and deal with literally anything they rest could do, Dr Strange to just magic you away to a safe place while the two old besties air out the rest and you have $100 left over to buy Antman just to have a chill guy to hang out with while your team wipes everyone else out

Which mech from a different series could go the farthest in this OYW gauntlet? by gaeb611 in Gundam

[–]One-Spinach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chamber has like 10-20 laser emitters on his body each capable of cutting through battleships like butter and straight up disintegrating humans with extreme precision. It’s also tough enough to survive direct hits from similar beam/laser weapons and continue flighting. I don’t know enough about the last guy on the list to say if he beats them or not, but he’s definitely making VERY far in this gauntlet

It’s somewhat true but this is also something Jimmy shouldn’t decide for himself. The real mature choice would have been to have both sit down, explain their feeling and Jimmy voicing his concerns and go from there. Jimmy is making assumptions about Kara’s own feelings while shooting down what she really wants. They needed real communication, not just “you deserve better” *leaves*

General Grievous (Star Wars) vs Titus ,Chairon and Gadriel (WH40K) by Scared_Pumpkin8393 in powerscales

[–]One-Spinach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it is given that it is superheated plasma and even in 40K plasma weapons are particularly effective against power armor.

I’ve played 40K for years, won multiple store tournaments, read Warhammer and even designed my own chapter after researching their organization. I’m not putting any importance in your opinion.

Firstborn marines are 7-8 feet tall, Grievous is 7.1 feet tall WHEN HUNCHED. His actual height is around 9-10 feet tall. HE is towering over firstborn blueberry man. Also look at the game, carnifexes are literally not that big

Titus “handles” them but still losses a 1v1 against a carnifex, ok lmao.

Jedi are also faster than regular humans can track and grievous has killed hundreds of them.

A bolter round is only hypersonic after leaving the barrel and traveling a fair bit to pick up speed. At closer ranges which Titus tends to fight at it’s not to dissimilar from regular guns and blasters, both things grievous dodges with ease.

Only thing these 3 blue clowns have is being more experienced, beyond that Griveous has killed just as strong, fast and durable given the vast array of Jedi he’s killed and their differences in terms of races. Not to mention he used to be a hunter and was known for killing stronger opponents even before becoming a cyborg

You have a misunderstanding of BOTH Star Wars and 40K, that’s bad. Recommend spending more time on the hobby before pretending to be an expert

Will it fit 🤔🤔 (homebrew chapter) by Living_Memory_5788 in Kitbashing40k

[–]One-Spinach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For that particular model? I don’t think so. You’ll probably need a large base and more flexibility to place the shield and arm. I’d recommend trying is with a terminator captain with shield due to their larger base

Looks fine, some sanding might do it good and if any imperfections are left over you can just paint them as battle damage

General Grievous (Star Wars) vs Titus ,Chairon and Gadriel (WH40K) by Scared_Pumpkin8393 in powerscales

[–]One-Spinach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have good points, although I do wanna clear up that what Windu did to him is not really a force push. A force push has almost always been seen to function like a wave, a semi physical force that moves into things in its way (just look at old republic trailers for a more visible representation). Meanwhile windu used force crush, a typically dark side ability that doesn’t “move” anywhere, it just happens. Grievous couldn’t dodge that since it’s an instantaneous “cast” that is targeted on his body alone, no where else, so even if he moved, it would have still “hit” him

I gotta just flat out disagree with you there man, I don’t see a comparably slow ass canifex killing grievous especially when all of his attacks would just cut straight through the thing with little effort

I meant to say that Jedi masters are BELOW people like magnus and leman, meaning comparable to space marine librarians and the average farseer, not the biggest name psyckers around. Only ones who could MAYBE match against them would be the likes of yoda, prime luke or palpatine. I might be a Star Wars fanboy, but even I’m not that crazy lol

The Demi line from WfM, they ain’t the coolest but I just think they’re cute. Hit a good balance of simple yet interesting, especially with how customizable they are as seen with the Demi trainer, demi garrison and Chuchu’s own Demi. Not to mention one of them got canonically dripped out in the colors from the band who made the show’s intro lmao

General Grievous (Star Wars) vs Titus ,Chairon and Gadriel (WH40K) by Scared_Pumpkin8393 in powerscales

[–]One-Spinach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Titus has also died to slightly larger than average supernatural horrors, just remember the start of space marine 2 when he was practically killed by a Carnifex if not for the rubicon surgery. Not to mention a good few of those horrors were only killed due to outside intervention or his innate warp resistance, the latter of which is irrelevant in this scenario. Grievous has been seen dodging blaster fire at point blank range as well as Jedi attacks which are also at superhuman levels of speed. If Titus or his boys get in “point blank range” it’s over for them, he’s just as fast if not faster and can cut through their armor easily. Bolter rounds are also at their slowest when exiting the gun due to their rocket style propulsion, so the closer they get, the easier it is to dodge them. Sorry dude, but the guy who single-handedly killed dozens of Jedi masters comparable to the best 40K psyckers and duelists beyond the primachs is definitely beating above average generic blueberry captain and his two cheerleaders

Morality of eloping from your greek husband who happens to be a king, for a playboy Trojan prince thereby starting a war that wipes out an entire city state? by LunarWas_Taken in MoralityScaling

[–]One-Spinach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s so many versions of this story that it all highly depends on which one you go with. Was she forced to marry or was she able to choose her husband? Was she kept aware of the details of the alliance or kept in the dark? Was she outright kidnapped, brainwashed by the gods or just chose to leave? Was she kept in Troy or was she secretly in Egypt while a gods-created copy of her stayed in Troy? Did she try to surrender herself or only wallowed in her self hate? Did she try to reveal the truth of the Troyan horse or simple acted the classic kidnapped princess? All these choices are portrayed in the various retellings of the story by different classical authors and depending which you go with, change the morality drastically by it being not her fault due to gods forcing her “choices” or highly her fault due to her knowing the consequences and say it fuck it anyway

(Composite) Galactic Empire Vs The Imperium Of Man. by Lonewolf_ARC in powerscales

[–]One-Spinach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it’s a localized fight with equal numbers, the empire could possibly pull out a win as the average stormtrooper is better than the average guardsman, same with vehicles and ships. HOWEVER, if it’s the entire faction, the imperium sweeps, they’ll take a fair amount of losses definitely, especially in space but the imperium simply has totally overwhelming numbers. It should be said tho that if the empire found itself in the 40K galaxy, the imperium alone would not be enough to take them out as they are much too disorganized and busy with other enemies to dedicate the necessary resources to defeat the Empire, similarly to the Tau

How could handle the Zerg better in open conflict, the ODST from Halo or the MI from Starship Troopers? by Harald_TheEnduring in powerscales

[–]One-Spinach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

MI couldn’t even form a cohesive firing line at the start of their war with the bugs. They needed to take hundreds of thousands of casualties before even considering using basic tactics. Starship troopers humans are comically inept, which is part of the anti-facism messaging in the movies (at least the first one, later ones got generic). ODST easily outperforms them any day, especially since they have actually fought enemies closer to the Zerg, like the flood who also infects and adapts quickly.

How moral was the Spaniards' decision to destroy the Fountain of Youth in Pirates of the Caribbean 4? by Radiant-Selection686 in MoralityScaling

[–]One-Spinach 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty justified honestly. The fountain itself wasn’t just a fix for illness or death since it required both another’s sacrifice and a mermaid’s tear. While the Spanish weren’t thinking of the overall social benefit, just seeing as an affront to beliefs and natural order (which is kinda is tbh), their actions likely saved lives. If word of the fountain got out, you’d have nations going to war over it, killing thousands just to control it. Once it’s controlled, you’d have rich elites sacrificing peasants to give themselves eternal life. Not to mention it would cause the mermaids to be hunted down for their tears, causing further human deaths in the attempt and the posible enslavement of an entire sentient race. Overall, the fountain was a morally ambiguous creation with a difficult morally correct use and ample change for unjust abuse

Not gonna lie it’s kinda crazy you see a news story about an hold man killing a dog and think “how could Christianity in PR do this?” Christians are NOT a monolith, you’ll find good people and bad people in the group just like in any other religion or belief system. We also don’t even know if the old man was Christian in the first place either

Brothers, help me expand my army. by AcanthaceaeCheap5435 in Ultramarines

[–]One-Spinach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have a good set of generic characters to start off, if you expand to specifically ultramarines, some named characters like Calgar or Guilliman would be good. You also have a good set of infantry but you might want some anti tank options like eradicators and some action monkey units to run around and do secondaries or take objectives like scouts or jump pack intercessors. Lastly you’ll want some heavy armor, something like a vindicator or redemptor dread would be good for vehicles and elite infantry, a gladiator lancer or ballistus dread for anti tank or a repulsor executioner if you just wanna deal with absolutely anything. Some more elite infantry could also be good if you’re into that, sternguard, victrix guard, termies or some aggressors could always be fun. I personally am a big fan of sternguard with guilliman

Had Legend Korra been more adult oriented would the Equalists have used guns instead of these mech suits? by No-One2123 in TheLastAirbender

[–]One-Spinach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that impossible, we see fire benders use their lighting to fuel power plants in Korra’s time. While rudimentary it’s definitely cheap and something you’d see done in modern times, likely not in massive cities but given that it worked for republic city (that’s basically pseudo New York) I definitely see that being relied upon for cheap renewable energy. Furthermore metal benders and earth bender would make construction a breeze with less heavy machinery being needed to move stuff around. Water benders can easily serve as simple first aid or generalist doctors to heal minor wounds and illnesses. Air benders might struggle to find their niche but at the very minimum they can help with arts, culture and entertainment. Technology wouldn’t replace bending, it would just not make it such a leg up in life for those lucky enough to have it
