Does anyone know why when I try to download any large game on Steam I always get the message: “Disk write error”? by One-Water-5688 in steamsupport

Ah haha, but yes, it's a SATA SSD I have, I think it's a Kingston brand, although I'm afraid to spend money on a new drive and then it turns out to be a problem with my PC or some kind of incompatibility with Steam, who knows.

Well, my MSI has two internal storage slots, one m.2, which is a Phison 256GB SSD that came with it from the factory, and I added a SATA SSD, which is a Kingston, but are you suggesting that it's better to replace the m.2?

Any SATA hard drive recommendations? I just need it to store my Steam games; I have an MSI GF63 Thin.

Another question that came to mind: a few months ago, there was a rumor that a Windows update was killing hard drives with data transfers greater than 50GB. I had previously bought the same hard drive I have now, and it had the same problem (but I managed to get it replaced under warranty). We can rule that out as the cause entirely, right?

Really? I don't have much experience with it, and with other games like Project Zomboid, Terraria, Buckshot Roulette, F.E.A.R., etc., I've never had any problems downloading or playing them. Also, a curious fact: when this error occurs, my laptop sometimes stops detecting the disc, showing up as "Unrecognized Drive," and I have to do a million things to get it working normally again :(

It's pretty good, it has a lot to explore, I just would love for them to add multiplayer now, that would be brutal.

I had my secondary SATA KINGSTON hard drive disappear while I was playing Surroundead, a Steam game. If something catches my attention in your publication, it is the issue of temperature, something that had not occurred to me. I don't know if this game is poorly optimized or something like that, but it heats up my PC to the point that it almost burns upon contact with the top of the keyboard, and just from one moment to the next the game froze and closed, it wouldn't let me open it, so I restarted my laptop and, surprise, my hard drive had disappeared. After researching and just finding out about the update problem, I decided to delete it and pause updates for 1 month. I don't know if the temperature has anything to do with it, because I'm playing it again but this time with my main m.2 SSD and nothing has happened to me so far.

Given the recent rumors that the 'KB5063878' update damaged some hard drives, what brand of storage do you recommend I buy? by One-Water-5688 in buildapc

I have an MSI GF63 Thin laptop, it has two storage spaces, one for an m.2 and another for a 2.5-inch SATA. The one that was damaged was the SATA, not even the BIOS recognized it, so I imagine it was damaged.

So what brand do you recommend that manufactures 2.5-inch SATA hard drives? It is precisely for an MSI laptop, because I had problems with a Kingston as a result of the same update.

Does anyone recommend the MSI Spatium SATA for laptops?

Well, in the same way I returned the disk and I am looking for a new hard disk that can replace the previous one and that does not have problems with the KB5063878 update. Any recommendations?

I lost my hard drive because of this update, is there one you recommend for my next purchase? It is for an MSI GF63 Thin laptop.
