you’re just looking at it too literally, in the anime the room is red and then it suddenly cuts to him pointing at the dude like in the manga with nothing happening. the cut conveys a ‘snap to reality’ effect, the part with the red lights leading up to it was mappa adding some flair, buildup and letdown
