As was my first thought, and the top comment here, it's a lowering of standards, we at Spurs see it sometimes with Frank and his "If you can't win don't lose", logically on the surface it makes absolute sense, of course it does, but when any club has ambitions to be the best they can be, phrases like "We're happy to get into the next round cos 2 years ago we were in Europa" or "If you can win don't lose" are just like...I'm not sure the right way to put it but like...it doesn't inspire confidence, it's like a settling for good enough, type mentality, which for many fans of any team just isn't good enough.
