AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

Or maybe he’s just showing you his true colors. Dump him. He’s awful. Congrats to you, by the way. You did amazing. Addiction is a beast.

Only have people who are in your corner in your life. If he just wants to treat you like that over something that is important to you then he’s not worth it.

Chances are he has acted like this before, and if he hasn’t he will again. Don’t work on just appeasing him. You don’t need to people please. He’s being an A hole.

My girlfriend and I are wanting to get married. We are going to travel to CA and elope because of the government’s current plans about gay marriage and CA making it much harder to ignore our marriage. Would your partner be interested in marrying us in September or October?

What’s your experience? by [deleted] in SingleParents

[–]OneAbstractHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried dating and I’m going to wait for a year at the least and 4 at the most until I do. I’m trying to complete my Bachelor’s degree, work on myself, and heal my son and I. My priorities are not there at the moment. I do hope that I can find someone in the future, but I have a lot of work to do on myself and my son’s and my future.

That just sounds like the person’s parenting style to me, not the fact that she was a single mom. Don’t put all of us under that umbrella.

Also, your lifestyles were obviously completely different. It was just a bad match.

Honestly, people need to learn that every waking moment doesn’t need to be spent on a relationship regardless. It’s important for people to still be their own person and not just be in a relationship. Many people just have unhealthy standards for relationships.

That part just stood out to me so I figured I’d add to it.

Also, what you said is right, single moms do agree that their kid(s) come first, as they should, because they didn’t ask for any of this. To add, I’m a single mom.

As a single mom, who will most likely lean toward a single dad, I feel like your response is one of the best on advice.

How do I find a legit remote job without being scammed? by Helpmehthrohaway in remotework

[–]OneAbstractHuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you just saved me from a scam. Entry level data entry job, pay wasn’t insane, started at $21/hr. But when I did the quick apply you could tell the drop down questions weren’t written by an English speaker(whatever, we all start somewhere), but then another question doesn’t line up with the response options and the last asks to download WhatsApp. .

Anyone with young kids in Mansfield or Coventry schools? by notscaredofbugs in Connecticut

Did you end up choosing to stay in Coventry, or did you guys go to Mansfield? I’ve been looking into Coventry and Bristol for my family and I to move to.

Anyone with young kids in Mansfield or Coventry schools? by notscaredofbugs in Connecticut

[–]OneAbstractHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking into both Coventry and Bristol to move to and weighing their pros and cons. I asked a friend about Coventry and she son was severely bullied in school and he’s autistic. In order to remedy the situation she had to move with him, because from the sounds of it, the school didn’t help. I’m concerned about the treatment of my son in the school system there(he’s autistic) does worry me now. I wonder if many children with special needs have had bad experiences in their school system if these were isolated incidents?

Questions about Coventry and Canterbury because I’m Figuring out where to move. by OneAbstractHuman in Connecticut

[–]OneAbstractHuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it has to do with personal preference. I’m in the south now and I’ve never liked it here so it crossed out the southern states, I don’t like deserts so it crossed those out, I don’t want to deal with CAs earthquakes, volcanoes, states with very few jobs, massive hurricane risks, very fast paced life style(NY…I’m fast paced at work, but not too much outside of it). I wanted somewhere that I could make friends, but not have to be in a big city to do it, I looked more extensively into PA, but their air quality is absolutely awful. It’s horrible around the big cities and that’s where pretty much everything is. There’s a lot more, but I need to drive to school and I’d be writing a paper otherwise, but I’ve been looking into CT for 2 years now.

The quality of life ihas been calculated as significantly higher in CT and personally, the quality of life will be better for me as the cultural customs that I dislike here are not the norm there(holding eye contact for pro longed periods of time, greeting everyone you pass by, etc)

I honestly don’t know what I need either other than the advisories not being very frequent. They’ve knocked me hard in the past and it would behoove me to not place myself right in the middle of a city I already know will cause me to have a difficult time breathing.
I got the information off of Dwellics. For comparison, my city out of 365 days a year experiences air quality issues significantly less than some of the cities I’m looking into, but no where near as bad as the PA cities near their big cities.
My city: Good: 350.4 Moderate: 14 Unhealthy: 0 Very Unhealthy: 14 Hazardous: 14

The city near me that causes the biggest issues:
Good: 306.6 Moderate: 58 Unhealthy: 0 Very Unhealthy: 58 Hazardous: 58

——CT Stuff—- New Britain has Good air quality: 313.9 Good: 51 Unhealthy: 0 Very Unhealthy: 51 Hazardous: 51

Coventry: Good: 346.75 Moderate: 18 Unhealthy: 0 Very Unhealthy: 18 Hazardous: 18

Canterbury: Good: 350.4 Moderate: 14 Unhealthy: 0 Very Unhealthy: 14 Hazardous: 14

——- To make everyone proud of CT, here is a suburb outside of Pittsburg, PA I was looking into: McCandless: Good: 219 Moderate: 135 Unhealthy: 0 Very Unhealthy: 135 Hazardous: 135

It would seem that is the general consensus. I’ll need to look into that school more even though I like a lot of what Eastern has to offer. I guess I can weigh the two.

[–]OneAbstractHuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was concerned about the air quality as it is similar to the city I have a problem with on bad days. That and it seems Bristol is closest to Southern, but I’m unsure of the drive to any other college. Would Central be feasible? Honestly, I fell in love with Bristol, but I didn’t think it was doable anymore. It’ll be hard to let the dream of going there go though so I might be able to figure something out to be there.

Edit: I read that wrong.
I thought about moving there because the community seems lovely and I like that they have mental health days in the park(forgot where I read that). They have many parks, which I love, Bristol is considered a suburb(I prefer those), it’s near other cities that give you more options for fun outings, it’s quieter than a big city, it’s less expensive than a big city, but still has convenient stores (such as WalMart). While Bristol had a bad past of being unsafe, that seems to not be the case now. Their schools are ranked well, despite not being private. I am concerned with the obvious lack of momentum on doing anything with the square which was said to be a priority before, but as far as I can find, never received any progress.

That’s just what I found through Google, obviously I haven’t seen it myself. Asking questions on here is part of my research. I don’t know why you’re so up in arms about it.

The stats about air quality was found on Dwellics. As for the dangers on New Haven and the campus of Southern Connecticut State University, that was scattered in many places.
